MTV Desi was a spin-off network from MTV that targeted Desis (people of South Asian origin), as the name implies. The network featured various styles of music such as electronic tabla music and English-Gujarati hip-hop, interspersed among Bollywood videos. It also broadcasted brief documentary clips profiling Desis/famous Indians in music, comic skits about South Asian American generational conflicts, interviews with bicultural artists and Desi house parties, live. It launched on July 2005.
On April 30, 2007, MTV Desi and its two other MTV World counterparts, MTV Chi and MTV K, went off air.
