MTV Central, also regularly called MTV Germany, is a regional version of MTV for the German-speaking areas of Central Europe - Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxemburg, and Liechtenstein. It split from the single European, English language MTV Europe on March 7, 1997 as a response to the new German music station, VIVA, which was then a competitor. (VIVA has since been bought by MTV's corporate parent, Viacom.)

The channel, which is based in Berlin, is the only remaining MTV transmitted by analogue satellite in Europe, and among the few transmitted on free-to-air digital services throughout the continent, along with MTV Austria, MTV Italia, MTV Adria and MTV Turkiye.

MTV Central is also the name of an MTV channel broadcasting throughout much of South America.

MTV Central broadcasts many MTV shows, such as Next, Room Raiders, Scarred,... along with VH1 shows Flavor of Love, Strange Love and I Love New York and Comedy Central's South Park and Drawn Together. They also have shows from their own production, including TRL Germany, MTV News and Game One.
