The {{mtgcard}} template allows for convenient linking to the Gatherer Lookup page (Wizards of the Coast's official database search engine) for cards from Magic: the Gathering. The template processes the text in the second field of the template, adding it to the appropriate part of the Gatherer URL and displaying that text linked to the URL.
For example, {{mtgcard|Wrath of God}} produces:
This template does not allow for linking to a specific version of the card, as the only way to access specific card printings from a given set is by the individual Gatherer-assigned ID number. For situations where linking to the printing of a card from a specific edition is necessary the only option is to use a standard external link, e.g. [http://ww2.wizards.com/Gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?id=276 Wrath of God (Alpha)] will result in Wrath of God (Alpha).
