MTA Rail Road

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MTA Rail Road is a proposed New York corporation that would be organized to merge the operations of the Long Island Rail Road with those of the Metro-North Commuter Railroad under the auspices of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

As of June 2007, it was reported that the MTA would no longer pursue the merge, citing several reasons, including the need for each community to have its own railroad with local leaders in touch with the needs of that particular area.[1]
