Deutsch: Nach dem 18. Mai gab es im Verlaufe des Jahres 1980 fünf weitere explosive Eruptionen des Mount St. Helens, darunter auch dieses Ereignis vom 22. Juli. Die Eruption sandte Asche und Bimsstein in eine Höhe von 10–18 km und war 160 km nördlich in Seattle, Washington sichtbar. Dieses Bild wurde aus südlicher Richtung aufgenommen.
English: After May 18th five more explosive eruptions of Mount St. Helens occurred in 1980, including this spectacular event of July 22nd. This eruption sent pumice and ash 6 to 11 miles (10-18 kilometers) into the air, and was visible in Seattle, Washington, 100 miles (160 kilometers) to the north. The view here is from the south.
