[edit] Muslim Students Federation.

A Students’ Movement based on values.

Muslim Students’ federation is students’ movement scientifically designed by the Muslim League for encouraging and developing the talents of students and channels them to the good of the society.

The work of the MSF for the past so many years stand as historic evidence for dedicated work. It is full of healthy reactions to the contemporary issues. The mother organization helped them much in their work for protecting the rights of the student community. Here we are not presenting the long list of leaders who like branches of a Banyan tree rooted in the Islamic culture and spread their branches to different directions.

Muslim Students’ Federation’s activities were not to be confined to the campus. The founder-leaders’ direction offered the organization a precise angle for launching.

During the initial years it tried to learn politics by keeping away from it. The students did not try to participate in the active politics at the expense of their studies. Muslim League also did not want to follow a foolish policy of spoiling the seeds that are to blossom and bring good yield.

When other student Movements deviated by adopting superficial and hypocrite slogans, MSF is the only students’ organization that has had a sincere and honest perspective. The movement progressed by providing help for the poor students, giving them scholarships and inculcating in them religious values. The MSF students organized workshops to give training to students in public speaking and manuscript magazines to express their inner feelings. The mother organization took care to see that the MSF should react to the issues always standing firmly on their cultural roots. Opposing the destructive activities, the organization took up constructive tasks. They tried to smoothen the relationship between the teachers and the taught. They were determined that the students should not become strangers to the world beyond the textbooks. MSF was able to achieve success by these and such other constructive activities.

It was MSF that first put forward the demand for a University for Malabar. It was again MSF that took initiative for the propagation of Arabic and Urdu languages and grew strict discipline and a sense of obligation in the minds of students. It was also responsible for developing a friendly approach to all crossing the religious limits. MSF was in fact trying to rescue the student community when other students’ movements were becoming the stooges in the hands of political parties and developing a tendency to resort violent means.

The League leadership was determined that MSF should be an organization firmly rooted in values. MSF of the erstwhile Madras Province, Malabar District MSF and the Kerala MSF that was formed in 1956 were all of the same view. The organization followed a policy that was firmly fixed to ideology. It made new leaves in the history by their style of functioning based on spiritualism and morality.

Those students’ organizations that forget the truth that the students are going to the institutions for studying not for striking have begun to wither away. Many of them were carried away by the whirlpool of splits. MSF alone with the rose flower of love on hand remained in the campus when many other students’ movements stained their hands with blood of the rival parties and singing hymns to the evil spirits. The policies of the MSF did not go waste. The mature leaders were satisfied by the active growth of the organization.

Yet it is impossible not to mention the names of a few that tried their best to inculcate social consciousness in the minds of the younger generations. Especially must we remember those who brought up the movement in spite of serious crises and difficult situations. Haji Abdul Sattar, Issahac said Sahib and K M Seethi Sahib were the men who took initiative in starting the movement in Malabar. Hasanrisa sahib was the first president. The first Secretary was Thalassery Ponamanichy Moidu and no one could forget Thalassery MKP Mammu, KN Ahamad and Thanoor CM Kutty. CH,and PM, helped much in the working of the organization.. The others like K Hamsathu K Abubekkar, VP Impichiyali, VK Abu, Kamal Pasha, Hashim Bekkar, Kunji Bava, PP Moideen Kunji Moideen and Kunjimayan gave wise leadership from time to time.
