Hello, you have tagged this image with {{PD-ineligible}}. However, it is clear that this tag is not proper. It could be used for say, simple chemical structural formulas, but not for photos! Please read Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. If no proper license will be added in seven days, the image will be re-tagged with {{no source}} and deleted. Please ask on my talk page if you have any questions. Renata 06:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Map chinatown dc.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Map chinatown dc.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:07, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Map cleveland park.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Map cleveland park.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 18:26, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DC images

Thanks for uploading all the maps of DC, but you need to cite the copyright info or they'll be deleted. --Awiseman 00:54, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

You have to change the tags so they're listed as public domain - government. It's in the help somewhere, I've never actually done it myself. --Awiseman 15:37, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
But I created the document as it is; doesn't that make it self-made?--Msclguru 15:47, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
The main thing is the tagging - even if you made an image, there are still bots that come through and zap images that aren't tagged properly. I think this might be a good link Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags. I'm just trying to help you out, as I think the images are useful and I don't want to see them get zapped by some overzealous copyright hound. --Awiseman 18:39, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
See what I mean? --Awiseman 16:21, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maps

Please, please give the source to this "public domain (government) document" You keep referring to. feydey 16:16, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Since You are unable to give source for the Washington, D.C. maps, they will be deleted and I advise You not to upload any without proper sources. See Wikipedia:Maps for Public domain and free map resources. feydey 15:08, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions#US-GOV-PD_and_Washington,_D.C. for the answer when it comes. And then please reply if You are going source the images. feydey 19:39, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia_talk:Image_copyright_tags#US-GOV-PD_and_Washington.2C_D.C. they are not. feydey 21:06, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
If Your source map is done by DC government then it is a copyright violation to use it. Then have the maps deleted and look for a free source. That is not good news but it has to be done. This is why I recommended from the start to source the images, to avoid this kind of deletions. Please be sure to use free maps when You modify and upload them, sourcing them help other users to say immediately if they are acceptable. By not doing this You have come to this. Write if You need help on putting the files to deletion (Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion). feydey 21:31, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Atlastheater.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Atlastheater.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

[edit] Image:Spkelly.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Spkelly.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 02:31, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:CharleyPatton.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:CharleyPatton.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Image tagging for Image:Neilrogers.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Neilrogers.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Neilrogers.gif

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Neilrogers.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:16, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Keppard.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Keppard.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 16:01, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
