MSC Software, founded as MacNeal-Schwendler Corporation by Richard MacNeal and Robert Schwendler, is an engineering-software company. The company developed its first program called SADSAM (Structural Analysis by Digital Simulation of Analog Methods), the forerunner to MSC's flagship program, MSC.Nastran. The SADSAM program became known as NASTRAN (NASA Structural Analysis Program), one of the first efforts to consolidate structural mechanics into a single computer program.
The company makes other engineering software including the simulation software MSC.Adams.
