Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. It is of a lower resolution than the original.
  2. It has been widely discussed and has become iconic.
  3. It is being used for informational purposes in an article as an arguable example of its subject matter.
  4. There is no free-license equivalent.
  5. Our use of the image does not affect its value.
