[edit] Alpental
Thank you for reverting it. I'm having trouble understanding what user:67.170.33.237 is thinking. I thought I had addressed his/her concerns, but they deformatted it the same way. Maybe they don't read the article? — EncMstr 00:05, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Alpental
I hope I'm doing this discussion thing correct.....(still learing my way around). I've tried to contact this person but they ignore all forms of contact. History of Snoqualmie Pass has been a hobby of mine for many years now and most folks up there refer to me now for answers on past events and such.
I just hate to see the information/history be so distorted by this person to push their anti-Booth Creek agenda. Its stupid......
- Yep, you did the talk page edit okay, then apparently changed your mind. There's a place for controversy in Alpental. Hopefully whoever is behind the near-vandalism will turn to facts once they realize how wikipedia works. — EncMstr 00:54, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

- Hi Mrhyak,
- I'm looking into getting an administrator to take action against the user. I think I've made a good faith effort to communicate, and the spirit of the rules would seem to indicate he/she can be blocked for 24 hours, if an administrator is willing to take the case. — EncMstr 05:21, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- (By the way, you can type ~~~~ at the end of your talk page messages to have it replaced with your wikilinked username and timestamp.)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Alpental 12-8.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Alpental 12-8.jpg.
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Alpental 12-8.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Alpental 12-8.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.
Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigDT 03:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- I saw your edit summary that you would like for the image to be removed. If you just do nothing (leave the warning tag intact), the image will be removed by an administrator in a week or so. If you would like to hasten the removal, you may tag the image with {{db-author}} requesting its deletion. BigDT 03:19, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
The first photo I uploaded was actually emailed to me so I could not verify ownership which is why I mentioned the deletion. I then uploaded a photo I took and added info for that but could not figure out how to remove my original description. I tried to figure out the copywrite tag but am not sure how to do it. Wiki is very new to me and I'm not figuring it out as quick as I would like. I'll see if I can figure out the proper tag and how to add it. Is there a way I can delete it and start over? --Mrhyak 05:40, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
If you do nothing, you'll get your wish: the image will be deleted in less than a week, probably by a bot. If you tag it (by editing the image page and adding {{db-author}}), an administrator will come by in a few hours or days and delete it. If you upload another image and name it Alpental 12-8.jpg, it will "revise" the old image and replace it with the new one. I think you did this once already.
The current image is a good one, so I took the liberty of adding it to the Alpental page a while back. If you're satisfied with the image, but just want to address the wikimedia copyright issue, edit the image page and add one (or two) of the tags on this page. Look closely at {{CopyrightedFreeUse-User}} and {{cc-by-2.0}}. Personally, I usually use {{self2|GFDL|cc-by-sa-2.5,2.0,1.0}}. Admittedly, this is a bit confusing and arcane. You can avoid the situation next time by choosing the license from the drop-down box at upload time. You might want to add the Information template at the same time.
{{Information | Description = Explanation of what the picture shows | Source = Where the image came from. Say you made it if you did. | Date = date the image was created, such as 2006-04-19 | Author = name of author, or wikilink to user:wikiuser }}
In short, don't let a blank box (on special:upload) stand before pressing the Upload file button. — EncMstr 09:09, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for the help with this, and everything else. I will let this photo be deleted then re-add with the proper information and install it the same way you did, but in the section that describes the backcountry skiing. I uploaded a different photo that I took last year for the main part that shows the ski lift. --Mrhyak 15:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Nice photo. Got any more? The article would look very nice with one or two more.... — EncMstr 17:34, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! Yes, I have a lot of Snoqualmie Pass area photo's I've been taking over the last 10 or so years. I'll try to find some that will be the most relevent to the topic for Alpental, and/or other SP area articles.
[edit] Hyak Photo
Hi, I should note that the removal of the photo was not personal -- it was strictly by reason of policy. We cannot use photos on Wikipedia that are for use by permission only -- the image generally must have a license permitting re-use by anyone (barring some other circumstances that don't apply to your photo). Your photo's licence tag indicated that it was for use by specific permission to Wikipedia rather than such an open license for anyone to reuse, and by policy we can't keep those photos. If you can check back with your friend and see if (s)he is willing to either release it as public domain or under a suitable license, we would be happy to have the photo back (as I recall, it was a pretty cool photo). Thanks, take care. --Improv 14:52, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
I guess I just selected the wrong license, but it doesn't make sense to me that if photo's with that license are not allowed, why have that license as an option. I don't take this personal as its still a learning experience for me. A note as to the reason for removal would be nice though for us that are still learning here since it seems a bit rude to just delete and go on leaving the user (me) not knowing what the heck I did wrong. Thanks, --Mrhyak 02:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- Precisely because of what you just said: "I guess I just selected the wrong license." People often want to provide photos with permission only for use on Wikipedia or only for non-commercial use, and it's better that we include the option, or else people will lie about the real licensing situation. [edit] Ramones photos
Thank you for uploading your Ramones photos. I have uploaded them to Wikimedia Commons, our image repository, and made some edits to them. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again. Jkelly 21:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your Bowling Ball Core Image
Hello. Just out of curiosity.. did you actually create the image of the bowling ball cores, or did you scan it from somewhere and upload it? Madmaxmarchhare 16:06, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
YES, it was part of a project I did for a local bowling alley a few years back to help some folks understand some basics. I created it on an older PC and printed it as part of a group of papers to teach a few folks some basics of bowling. I just scanned that section of the print, but I now cleaned it up in Adobe. The folks I made it for were at Adventure Bowling Center in Snoqualmie, WA back when Carl owned the place. It has since sold and I have'nt been there in a few years. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Storm-riders-us.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Storm-riders-us.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:14, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] CNL Income Properties
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article CNL Income Properties, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
