MRB Productions is a leading production company focused on independent features, television shows, television specials, and commercials.
[edit] History
Launched in 2001 by Emmy Award winning Executive Producer Matthew Brady, the company found instant success with ESPN and the ESPY Awards. Promos and short comedic features, such as The Comeback featuring ESPY host Samuel L. Jackson created a buzz at the 2001 awards show. Furthermore, The Comeback proved a hit at the USA Film Festival and won at the HBO Aspen Comedy Shorts Festival.
Creating top-notch productions on a shoe-string budget, MRB Productions accelerated its success as it landed another contract with the Disney family and ABC’s Monday Night Football. By the fall of 2002, MRB Productions created each week’s super-charged Monday Night Football opening, under the direction of Mark “T-Man” Teitelman. The synergy between MRB and Teitelman was immediate and together they produced and directed the prestigious Super Bowl XXXVIII Open with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Nominated for three EMMY Awards in 2003, MRB Productions garnered its first EMMY for Outstanding Opening/Tease with Monday Night Football’s The Pitch featuring Dennis Hopper. MRB grabbed two more EMMY nominations in 2004 for their Monday Night Football Opens. The company also received a slew of press in 2004 from the now infamous[who?] Nicolette Sheridan/Terrell Owens towel-dropping teaser Towelgate.
During 2004, MRB Productions increased its roster of renowned commercial directors and landed projects with DirecTV, SONY, Upper Deck, MGA Entertainment, NFL Network and X Games, among others. Now, with three Kids/Product directors on the roster, MRB Productions is inching its way into the toy market having completed work on national Bratz doll spots.
MRB Productions produced the 2006 BCS National Championship Open for ABC Sports featuring Will Ferrell and Matthew McConaughey. Other recent notable Opens produced by MRB include several for ESPN Sunday Night Football, the 2006 Cingular All American Bowl, ABC’s Monday Night Football Finale, and the 2006 Super Bowl.
In 2007, MRB Productions received six Sports Emmy nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, including recognition of MRB Directors Mark Teitelman and Rico Labbe. MRB received a clean sweep in the "Outstanding Production Design/Art Direction" category, scoring all four nominations. The four selections in this category include:
- The 2006 NFL Draft on ESPN directed by Rico Labbe
- Monday Night Football teases for the Washington Redskins vs. Minnesota Vikings game and the Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles game both on ESPN
- Monday Night Football transformation open featuring Ben Stiller on ESPN
- NBA Finals tease open on ABC directed by Mark Teitelman
All four nominated pieces were produced in part by MRB Productions, which guarantees a win for the company in this particular category.
MRB also received two nominations in another category, "Outstanding Open/Tease" which include:
- Super Bowl XL piece The Places You Will Go featuring Harrison Ford on ABC directed by Mark Teitelman and produced by Matt Brady
- NBA Basketball Hall of Fame piece on ABC directed by Mark Teitelman and produced by Matt Brady
MRB's other recent commercial clients include work for Young & Rubican, Campbell-Ewald, The Woo Agency, Triple Double, MGA Entertainment as well as the networks ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. Outside of commercials and promos, MRB recently co-produced its first feature film entitled I Trust You to Kill Me, starring Kiefer Sutherland. The film was met with rave reviews[who?] and released both theatrically and on VH1. In addition, MRB produced all Monday Night Football opens this season for ESPN, including one featuring 2008 Presidential candidate Barack Obama.
