[edit] Re: Popinjay article
I think the "citation needed" tags you added to the Popinjay article are somewhat over-the-top. They're on every paragraph. I've not seen any other Wikipedia articles hosed with "citation needed" tags in this way. What criteria are being applied here, please? Mr Barndoor 17:05, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I usually do that to point out where you need citations. Please don't assume that a reference at the end is enough. It would not work in a scientific paper and it won't work here. If you write "X", we need to know where you got "X". In some cases, you may be forced to put multiple references to the same source in the same paragraph. The &ref> tag makes that easy. Have you read WP:CITE? Will (Talk - contribs) 18:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response Will, and the info you sent me. I can provide references for most of the archery popinjay stuff (though it'll take time), but some of the information was obtained verbally at popinjay shoots that I've attended. I have good reason to consider it correct, but there's unlikely to be a citeable source. Can we say "original research"? ;-) Mr Barndoor 10:43, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
