[edit] Speedy deletion contested

The rationale for speedy deletion seems to be Blatant advertising. Pages which exclusively promote some entity and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion. However the page is more than just a commercial page for Mr. Gay UK and the annual event has become a key gay cultural icon that has also raised gay awareness in the general media (see the footnotes relating to national newspaper coverage). As such the page is quite appropriately an encyclopedic topic and cannot be mistaken for blatant advertising (though you could argue the case for POV of the text). I have removed the template for these reasons.

I have also removed the "15 years of Mr. Gay UK" section to become a little more NPOV, this was probably the objectionable text.

I have removed the "15 years of Mr. Gay UK" section for the second time under the same reasons, see WP:ADS before adding any such similar non-encyclopaedic section back in. —Ashleyvh (talk) 15:23, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
