Mr Shadow is a rapper of Mexican descent from San Diego, California who has released over 36 albums of his own[1] and has featured in over 16 others[2]. Since his 1997 debut track "till i die", Mr Shadow has been popular in the mostly underground Chicano Rap genre of music. Mr Shadow whose real name is Jose Anguiano was brought up in the Amici Park area of San Diego[citation needed], Jose Anguino also goes by the alias of Bake Humboldt and Sombra (Shadow in Spanish). His main influence for becoming a rapper was being inspired by hearing Knight Owl who at that time was the biggest Chicano rapper in San Diego. Since ten years of age Jose began writing poetry which he would rap with his distinctive voice. Mr Shadows first live gig was across the border in Tijuana, Mexico with a Lighter Shade of Brown. Although most of his albums are written and sung in English, Mr Shadow also uses Spanglish and Spanish (his album "Cuida Tus Pasos" is almost entirely in Spanish). He is signed to the Silent Giant/Machete/Universal record label. Despite his impressive number of albums, Mr Shadow has found it hard to break into the hip-hop mainstream, which his chicano rap counterpart Lil Rob has done.In 2007 Mr.Shadow was featured on the [Organized Cartel] album with the hit (Wanna Bees) which brought controversy from OC Santa Ana to San Diego. In 2007 Mr Shadow released the half English, half Spanish album "A Medio Camino" (Halfway Home) under Kinto Sol's Label, Virus Enterprises,LLC of Milwaukee, WI. The A Medio Camino album was entirely produced by Aztek Zoulz Musik Group.
