Mr Bongo Records

Mr Bongo Records is a Brighton based independent record label specialising in Brazilian music and world music. It was formed in 1989 by David 'Mr Bongo' Buttle.
Mr Bongo Records Shop was founded in 1989, in Berwick Street, London, later moving to Lexington Street and then finally to Poland Street. The shop was highly reguarded as one of the best hip hop record stores in the world. A second shop was opened in Japan in 1995. Sadly, both closed in 2004.
Since closure of the shops, Mr Bongo continues to operate as a successful record label. Disorient Records is a sub-label, specialising in dance music.
