I have moved this article to the correct title with respect to our naming standards. There is no need to change the links to the article regardless as redirects automatically take you to the article. Rmhermen 20:19, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

You edited this article to change "synthesizing" to "synthesizing". Note however that the first is the correct spelling in British English and Wikipedia convention is not to change the variety of English an article is written in from that of the original author unless the topic is clearly about a subject that relates to a particular style of English. An article about a Polish chemist who worked in Switzerland has no need to be in any particular style so the spellings of the original author should be preserved. Your VandalProof Application
Dear Grhs126student,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that Your edit count is too low. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Borat Page
Thanks for your vigilant editing, but I feel you were incorrect to modify my edit to the Borat page. In the film, Borat clearly says that his wife's vagin "hangs like sleeve of wizard" as opposed to the previously incorrect statment, "loose like skin of lizard." If you feel that he says this elsewhere in his work please add that seperately, but it is clear this is not what he says in the movie. I will gladly provide you citations if you feel this is incorrect. Thanks. --Bongadorus 19:45, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Homerpalooza
Hi, you recently did a GAC review of the article Homerpalooza and made some helpful suggestions. I made some changes to the article, and I was willing if you'd be willing to take a look before I renominate it as a GA. I changed the main image and I made some changes to the synopsis, but I didn't lengthen it too much. I don't like long Synopsises and I think a basic overview of the main plot is more preferable. So, if you could take a look, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Scorpion 18:53, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Dear League member,
We've started a participation drive for the remainder of February. If you can, please help clear the backlog by adopting the following goals each week:
- Select an article to copy-edit from the backlog. After your copy-edit, list the article in the articles ready for final proofread section.
- Select a different article to proofread from the articles ready for final proofread section.

Gallery of beloniform fishes
Whoa... not so fast Mr Z-man! Peer review of the Halfbeak artice has suggested that the images there be moved off onto their own gallery page. An update on Wikipedia:WikiProject Abandoned Articles
The project has reached the quarter-way point for the work on the list of the oldest 1000 ("abandoned") articles in Wikipedia: 250 articles have been reviewed and updated!
The project now has 21 members. If you're no longer interested, please take your name off the list; you won't get any further messages like this one. On the other hand, if you're still interested, please consider signing up for a(nother) block of 10 articles to work on - if everyone did this, we'd be almost halfway through those 1000 articles!
Finally, please note that project approach has changed slightly - there is now a section for editors to place articles that need to be "adopted", or to adopt articles that need further work. This means that if you find an article in a block of ten that needs more work than you have time for, it has a place to be put.

Re: Geography Cup
I've commented on the article's FAC page, and object still. Honestly, you're better off trying for GA with that one, and hoping enough sources emerge later on for you to try FAC successfully. If you're interested in getting an FA, I think you'd be better off choosing an article which has more sources from which to use. LuciferMorgan 02:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

User:Balikem
Hi Mr Z-man,
Concerning the use of adoptme & adoptoffer. I created adoptoffer to make sure that the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user did not become overloaded with users who had already offered adoption. Therefore if a user goes inactive better to leave it as adoptoffer so other Adopters don't waste their time. If the user wants another adopter at a later date the links from adoptoffer box explain how to do that. Cheers Lethaniol 19:54, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Template:Unclear
You made some edits to Template:Unclear and added it to Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup. However, the history of that template and the text on the template page state that it is only meant for MediaWiki help pages. So, what is the plan? Cheers, Jitse Niesen (talk) 22:14, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for alerting me to this, I didn't notice. I've reverted unclear back to a previous version and created Template:Vague to do what I needed. You removed a link to the Peptide Resource Page (PRP) ( *Peptide Resource Page ) for the Wikipedia article "Peptide" . The PRP is designed for scientists by a scientist and prior to its removal was listed with the "Peptide" article untouched for many months. PRP links are carefully chosen and annotated by hand. I would hope you would reconsider listing it and compare/contrast it to other sites that have appeared in the Peptide external links section which may indeed be less meaningful and purely automated spam. I reviewed you. I forgot to add, don't get too caught up in the politics, like we had with Daniel Brandt and the Essjay affair. Best regards. YechielMan 01:33, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Stupid
First, we don't do these things by vote count (and if we did, the anon wouldn't have counted). Second, "stupid" is indeed not a reason, but it seems to me that the person who said that was simply trying to make a joke and really meant "per the above". More importantly, though, "being mentioned" doesn't count as external coverage. What matters is if they actually said something about the site. For instance, the mention at Foodnetwork is just an address in a list of many. The mention in Pcmag is also just a link in a web directory. What we're looking for in sites such as these is external coverage. For instance, this page lists sites that cover Wikipedia in actual news articles, as opposed to this list which shows sites which merely mention us. HTH! >Radiant< 09:19, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

example code
I hacked togerther a rough example of how to do what I suggested at User:CMummert/Sandbox.
But the more I think of it, I think that the following syntax might be better:
- {{article issues|npov=y|npovdate=March 2006|cleanup=y|wikify=y|wikifydate=January 2006}}
That makes a clean separation between turning a issue on versus adding its date, and it would allow the automated tagging bots to add date parameters without having to edit what is already there, which might be easier for the bots to do. CMummert · talk 13:38, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Your message 7 April
Thanks for the explanation re action, but I'm left wondering just how bad personal abuse has to be for someone to be blocked without any warnings. My observation as a relative newcomer to Wikipedia is that while the level 1, 2, 3 etc vandalism warning system is right for silly mucking up of articles by vandals for entertainment, the replacing of someone's user page with abuse in response to a warning, is in a different category which requires different actions. In the bricks-and-mortar world of say, a school environment, this is something which would be instinctively understood. Regards, Rexparry sydney 01:43, 8 April 2007 (UTC) (PS no reply expected)
Adopt-A-User program
Hello! I saw that you are available for an adoptee and wondered if you would consider me for one of your open slots. I haven't been here very long, but for the most part I have been cleaning up vandalism using Lupin's Anti-Vandal Tool. I have recently become interested in stub-sorting and categorizing as well. I would like to venture into more involved article-editing, but I would like to get a better handle on Wikipedia's policies first. I am in general a very considerate editor and a stickler for spelling and grammar. Wikipedia makes my head want to explode sometimes, so I would just like to have someone I can ask all the random questions I come up with! :) Thanks! Literacola 02:01, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Re: Blood purity
Wow, I wish that template was functional. I just removed removed them because they're basically clutter on the article, and on the talk page, they put it in weird categories for a talk page, so I linked them. As long as there is a template directing users to the talk page, I don't think we need more than one template on the article. Page Deletion From Chicag Gang Listing
Mr Z-man
I have noticed that some of the pages that I have been working on have been deleted, the last one due to a copyright violation. I am speaking of the following pages:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ambrose_%28Gang%29&action=edit
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satan_Disciples
I am not sure how this is a copyright violation, if your speaking of the information coming from www.chicagogangs.org, I own, created, and run that site, so I am posting my own information. I am trying to contribute accurate and relevant information for all the gangs in chicago for wikipedia because there is none at this time. Its important that the information posted is relevant and accurate and I am trying to contribute, but I am not going to waste my time creating articles if they are going to be deleted the next day.
Please advise on how we can come to a resolve on this so that I am able to contribute the valuable information for these articles without having them deleted the very next day.

Edit to your talk page
Hi there. I just wanted to let you know I made this edit as in firefox and ie your talkheader box was lying on top of the new message box and the toc. All I did was give the new message and toc boxes some text to sit under, made it the same colour as the new message box and then moved the new message box up to cover the text over. I checked that it worked with firefox and ie, so hope I haven't ruined it for you if you use opera/safari.
Hope you don't think I'm being rude - if you think I was out of place I won't be offended if you just revert my edit. I just noticed the overlapping boxes and thought I'd try to help out (it's probably not the most elegant fix - but it's bodged it for now). ...adam... (talk • contributions) 10:34, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- I put an extra <br clear.... in as firefox was still crushing it. Still looks fine in ie - so I'm guessing you are using that, and there wasn't really a problem. Hope it looks ok for you now and that it's readable. ...adam... (talk • contributions) 09:51, 20 April 2007 (UTC)`

Categories vs Lists
Hi there,
I noticed your comment on the AfD for List of 3-D films and was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on the cat vs list concept. I read WP:Lists and WP:Cat and frankly can't see the advantage of one over the other. This list does seem useful to me, it seems to very easily meet the criteria for a good list. If I were looking for info about 3-D movies it would be a great place to start. But a category seems to have the same advantages. I'm going to ask the same question of the person stating the list option is better. Thanks!--killing sparrows 05:37, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
WikiTimeline
I'm very very new to Wikipedia so be patient. Had a hard time figuring how to leave you a message. Perhaps my suggestion would be a major project but think WikiTimeline should be seperate (or a major subsection) with links to the main wiki. Haven't done any programming in 40 years so I have no idea how to help set up such a site. Would need tech help, etc. etc. Was hoping someone who knew what they were doing would like the idea and pick up the ball. In addition the the original idea, perhaps could add feature that would let user zoom in on topics/dates like the better map sites.
Thanks for your time,
Pete

Hi. You saw that you just changed my edit to the article on Greenbrier, TN. RE: Greenbrier, TN
I understand. I've already found one article written by the president of Hendrix College in Arkansas who had an experience with the KKK in Greenbrier in the late 60's while visiting some family in the area. I want to see what else I can dig up on this because this is something that really needs to be known. It's the only way to get rid of the problem.

Mackinac Island
Would you mind giving this article a thorough copyedit? Its currently at the top of the WP:LOCE requests for FAC section, it has needed it for a while. The first FAC actually failed (only objections were prose), but I plan on renominating it after it is copyedited. The main problems cited were redundant wording (wordliness) and unnecessary links. (link to the FAC). Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 00:34, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Wii Points
What should be done about this? Clearly they should be removed, but I know if I removed them from the list pages...people would just revert my edits. The discussion at the Video Game Project talk page (which you posted at) doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. Should a request for comment be used? I've done some of those in the past (for other things), with little success though. RobJ1981 22:33, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- I suppose so. I will wait a few days, but I'm pretty sure the situation will be the same then. I'm either going to do a RFC, or just ask some admins to intervine. They know policies much better, so they can determine once and for all if Wii Points (and other download prices: such as Xbox Live Arcade) need to be listed or not. The listings seem to violate a few policies as it stands now, so I would think those should hold up in this case. RobJ1981 23:14, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- I posted on WP:ANI about the price problem, as I'm tired of the arguing at the talk page. Hopefully some admins see it, and resolve this price guide issue. It's clearly violating guidelines, and I'm sure there is sites that list prices (which can be put in external links for the appropriate articles). I don't know of any sites myself, but a search should turn up some I would assume. RobJ1981 21:14, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Editor not engaging in mediation
What to do in this case, Mr. Z. User:Dking is not engaging in the mediation at Cults_and_new_religious_movements_in_literature_and_popular_culture, despite the fact that he asked for such mediation. The only recourse I have is to revert to the undisputed version and see if that prompts him to engage. I do not want to do that, though. Mediation of cults in pop culture
Hi. I would be interested in helping mediate, if you think I might be useful. Haven't mediated on wikipedia before, so it would be useful experience for me. I have fair amount of background in the study of religion. The parties disagree on the fairness of applying 'cult' (except where Jossie would agree that term is adequately referenced for each application, or where Dking would agree that the designation is not plausible on definitional grounds). However, this argument over 'cult' is difficult because WP:Cult might benefit from mediation/etc. Until 'cult' has a settled WP:NPOV meaning, I'm not quite sure how we can figure out how to apply it within an en.wp article. On the other hand, I'm wondering if you could ask both parties to focus first on NRM. Perhaps they might agree that it is NPOV to describe Zane Grey, Twain, etc as dealing with NRM's. (Granting that NRM is anachronistic and not cited in the old sources, it is a widely accepted current NPOV term.) Of course, the mediator should stipulate that an agreement on NRM does not waive anyone's unresolved claim to use 'cult' too. Please let me know if you think I might be helpful. HG 03:56, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. Placed my offer on the mediation page and their user talks. Jossi responded and accepted. Dking has not responded. I posed a few questions to Jossi here. Just let me know: (1) How would you like me to communicate with you? Here? (2) Should I communicate with them via their talk pages, or would it be better to do it all on the article talk page, or even the case page? HG 15:59, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

MR Z
I had sent u a message a little while ago about copywright information, your reply was
"If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Satan Disciples with a link to the details. Or, alternatively, you may rewrite the material in a way different from your website. Hope this helps! Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 20:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)"

Question
Earlier in the month: you posted this on my talk page (about Wii Points): I was thinking an RfC, especially as current discussion seems to be much more evenly divided than some of the previous ones. I would wait a day or 2 first to see how the discussion pans out before considering starting one though. It really is a difficult situation as there is no policy or guideline (that I can think of) that really applies to something like prices. I can't remember if you posted here or not?Wikipedia_talk:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Not_a_sales_catalogue_or_price_guide. In any event: the discussion seems to have died. I also made this (which has some activity, but seems to have died down I believe): Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games#Video_game_download_prices_.28again.29. This price issue is for several articles, so I'm not sure if I should do a RFC for all (or just the original problem area). Several places have download prices, unsuitable for an encyclopedia. If one RFC happens: the other pages should follow suit, as they are similar... but might not, so I wasn't sure. If you need a list of the articles, I can post them. There is several regular articles, as well as list pages that have this price nonsense. RobJ1981 15:44, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've created a new discussion here: Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#Download_prices_in_video_game_articles. If that fails, I guess RFC is my only other option. Feel free to comment if you have time. RobJ1981 22:39, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of AVForums article
Hello, I was wondering how AVForums.com can be considered insignificant? It's Europe's busiest hoome cinema discussion forum, it has over 4 million posts, and a membership of over 170,000 people. It's the biggest home cinema website in the UK.
Stuart David Wright 06:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC) Spinball
- The article made no mention of membership or number of posts. It asserted no notability whatsoever. It basically said it was a UK based home consumer electronics forum. Per WP:CSD, articles that make no assertion of notability may be deleted. If it really is notable, feel free to rewrite it. Try adding some links to more external sources like newspapers or reputable webzines. Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 23:29, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Deletion frenzy
Just because you have been given the power to delete articles does not give you the right to decide what should and should not be on Wikipedia. I see I have already been beaten to your Talk page by someone else querying a deletion you have made. In this case I am talking about the Ideal World article. It has already been recreated by someone.
I do not know what the article looked like when you deleted it, but if it appeared to be blatant advertising, then you should have reviewed the article history, to see when the offending text may have been added. If it was not clearly defined, then a tag should be placed to request a clean up of the article. If after that you still felt it was not suitable for Wikipedia, then you put it through the established deletion procedure, as anyone else would. I have a feeling that the article was not in bad condition at the time of your deletion, and the true reason for its deletion was you testing out your new powers.
This is not a good start to your adminship. --Daniel Lawrence 22:50, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Are you familiar with WP:CSD, Daniel? See CSD G11. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 23:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- It was pretty bad. Create and Craft is the craft makers’ dream channel. The only channel fully dedicated to crafting. Devoted to a wide range of craft pursuits and hobbies including all the essentials and specialist materials needed for card making, drawing, painting, needlecraft, embroidery, rubber stamping, scrap-booking, decoupage, rainbow glass, pinflair and encaustic art. That is standard speedy deletable spam. It read like it was written by their advertising department. The current version is much better and it actually has sources too. I didn't even nominate it for speedy deletion, another user did. If you really want me to undelete it (which would require deletion of the better, current version) to take it to AfD, I will, but I can imagine the outcome will be the same, I doubt it will even last a day on AfD. Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 23:22, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

-
- The article was not always in that state. As I said in my first message, "you should have reviewed the article history, to see when the offending text may have been added". It seems crazy that a good article that gets defaced by one person will be deleted, removing all the hard work of possibly many years by many people. All because of one person making a bad edit, and the administrator who neglected to review the article history. --Daniel Lawrence 18:41, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- I did look at the history. I could have reverted to a version from about 7 months ago, but that was in horrible shape, did not cite any sources and could have been deleted per WP:CSD#A7, as all it said was that it was a UK shopping channel. It then went on to list presenters (mostly redlinks) and list a bunch of poorly written trivial facts that made no sense as there was no context to establish what they were referring to. Or I could have reverted to a stub, that also failed CSD A7 that was the same as the later version but without all the redlinks and random facts. Also, " I have a feeling that the article was not in bad condition at the time of your deletion, and the true reason for its deletion was you testing out your new powers." - Please assume good faith and not automatically jump to admin abuse!. Just because I am a new admin does not mean I am a total idiot when it come to speedy deletion. Again, if you want me to undelete it to take it to AfD, I will. Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 18:55, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
