I use Wikipedia since several months, but I've signed up very recently: I'm actually French and am not really a good English speaker, so excuse me for my mistakes... see my french page for more information.

[edit] My hobbies
[edit] Reading
I'm presently reading Les liaisons dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, a French author of the XVIII° Century. I'm also reading Allen Ginsberg's Howl, and some philosophy: Leviathan by Hobbes, Genealogy of Moral by Nietzsche...
I'm so fond of poetry and romance, and love reading novels.
[edit] Music
I'm a big fan of music: I appreciate all kinds of music, especially punk and rock, but I do appreciate jazz and classical music, John Coltrane as Chopin, Louis Armstrong as Dropkick Murphys... I don't mean I have a huge musical culture, and still have many and many things to learn. I play drums and guitar, but would not be able to contribute about those on Wikipedia because of my bad English level.
[edit] Watching TV and movies
[edit] TV shows and series
I'm fond of Daria, the Simpsons and South Park, but I don't like dull and stupid TV programs like Thierry Ardisson's Tout le monde en parle (Everybody talks about it) or TV-reality shows, which seem to fight between them to know which will get the prize of the most boring, stupid and idiot.
[edit] Movies
I prefer watching movies to all these programs: my favourite film directors are Stanley Kubrick, Jean-Luc Godard]], Fritz Lang, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock...
The list of the movies I'm crazy about or just those I loved would be excessevely long, so I'll quote only a few of them:
Clockwork Orange, Pierrot le fou, Arsenic and old Laces, The great Dictator, Barry Lyndon, and also animation movies by Hayao Miyazaki (I don't know their English titles).
[edit] Free culture
[edit] Wikipedia
[edit] Why?
I've known Wikipedia by a friend, and since I follow it, I've seen the fast progress that has been made. Sharing knowledge is really a good idea, the only default is that there are still some people who can't access to the web and Wikipedia because they don't own a computer... I personnally hope everybody will be able to get knowledge by this mean in a few years.
[edit] How I contribute
I wouldn't be able to translate French articles into English, but I should be able to translate English articles into French to increase the quality of the French Wikipedia and share the most knowledge as possible in the most various languages as possible: English, German, French, Italian, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese...
[edit] Free software
I use mostly free software published under the GNU GPL, and love artits (musicians, painters...) who share there creations under a free licence. Wikipedia of course helped me to discover and understand these licences.
And, what would have Marcel Duchamp made if Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa had been protected by a copyright? He wrote "L.H.O.O.Q", a joke with the letters that could be translated by "Her bottom is warm", on a reproduction of the famous painting...

I own a (French) blog, and you may see my French User page which is not mistakesful as this one...
