[edit] Character History

Mr. Nebula was created as a parody of Marvel Comics' giant planet-destroying menace Galactus (right down to his herald, the Scarlet Skier, who parodies Galactus' herald, the Silver Surfer). With his Terrain Modifiers, which can alter the shape, color or texture of any object, Mr. Nebula travels the cosmos in his Nebulamobile, redesigning entire worlds at whim using his unique "artistic" sensibilities.

[edit] Fictional Character Biography

Mr. Nebula was once a common mortal, ages ago. He comes across two humanoids, who are secretly powerful deities who have deigned to walk among the mortals for reasons of amusement. Mr. Nebula somehow offends them and is transported to a realm of madness. There is no up and down. Colors of every shape and hue are seen. Shapes to bend the mind and the eye float by. Mr. Nebula falls in love.

In this realm, he spends uncounted years evolving. He eventually returns to normal space and time. He uses his now vast cosmic powers to make a garish ship with which to travel the cosmos. He is also now much larger then the average humanoid. The people of the planets he visits despair, for they find his designs unbearable to tolerate, as they are aesthitcally displeasing.

Nebula crafts a herald, called the Scarlet Skier, whom he loses track of many times, much to the Skier's enjoyment. Unfortunately, the Skier is always drawn back into Nebula's employment, a terrible existence for him for he also hates Nebula's designs.

[edit] Earth

Mr. Nebula sets his sights on Earth. Warned by the Skier, only a small group of Justice League members are on hand to stop him. They include Martian Manhunter, Ice and Crimson Fox. Though backed up by the US military, Nebula seems unstoppable.

His great height would prove to be his literal downfall. Fox and Ice eventually enter his ear canal. Ice freezes everything she can, causing a disoriented Mr. Nebula to throw up and fall over.

While he is stunned, Martian Manhunter crafts a plan. He lies to Mr. Nebula, saying that the people of Earth are crafting their planet to honor him, bit by bit. To "prove" this, they travel to Las Vegas. Mr. Nebula is so entranced with the city, he leaves Earth to do the 'reformation' on their own.

Mister Nebula eventually returns in the Will Payton Starman #35, by Keith Giffen, Peter David, Jason Pearson and Bruce Patterson. The Skier ends up with an even more garish costume. Nebula has not been seen since.
