[edit] Synopsis
Monk is having money troubles because he hasn't had a case in three weeks. When a diamond is stolen from a museum and a million dollar reward is offered by Lloyd's of London, Natalie forces Monk to investigate the theft to claim the money. But three other detectives are also after the reward: retired Scotland Yard Inspector St. Clare, tech geek Rufus and motorcycle rider Dirk.
[edit] Trivia
In this episode, there is a side plot regarding Monk's finances and he asks to be put on retainer because he hasn't had a case in 3 weeks. At the end, Captain Stottlemeyer tells him he will be guaranteed 16 homicides a year for the next two years. This is a clever inside joke. In reality, Monk was picked up for two more seasons each with 16 episodes.
