Mr. J. L. B. Matekoni is a fictional character in The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series of books set in Gaborone, Botswana, by Rhodesian-born Scottish author Alexander McCall Smith.

Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni, born and raised in Tlokweng, is an auto mechanic with an excellent reputation and he proudly services the British High Commissioner's car whenever he visits Botswana. He is the proprietor of the Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors garage, where he employs two young men as apprentices.

Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni becomes engaged to the series' main protagonist, Mma Precious Ramotswe, founder and head of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency in Gaborone. At urging of Mma Silvia Potokwane, matron of the local orphanage, the couple take in two siblings, Motholeli and Puso, as foster children. In support of the orphanage, Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni (always referred to thus) performs repairs as needed on its aging mechanical equipment. He is an example of a true Botswanan man; kind and virtuous, although at times he is rather frustratingly kind and virtuous.
