Mr. Bungle chord

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mr. Bungle chord is the informal name of a musical chord. The name was first used by nu metal band Korn to describe a diminished power chord, that is, a diminished fifth chord, usually with a doubled octave, and sometimes a double diminished fifth. The chord is more properly referred to as a tritone, because each note is three whole steps from each other.[1] The name refers to the band Mr. Bungle, who made use of the chord in their music.[2] Black Sabbath made use of it in the song "Black Sabbath". The Mr. Bungle chord is an essential component of metal bands like Korn's sound, and was used by Korn as a way of describing an aspect of their music.
