Does the fact that it used to be called the Eastern Transvaal need to be in the opening sentence? It's not really that important - it was twelve years ago! Joziboy 11:24, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, it's fairly common to have alternative or previous names listed at the beginning of the article (you know, like "Xxx (also known as yyy; formerly zzz) is..."). I don't think it needs to have the date and all that; maybe if it just said "Mpumalanga (formerly the Eastern Transvaal)..." and the details about the date of the change and so on could be elsewhere (or not in the article at all). - htonl 20:56, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
