[edit] The Big Event

The article says " It was released on VHS by Coliseum Home Video.", but I will seperate it out from the rest, would you agree the rest are all the same type of article though? Darrenhusted 19:10, 4 August 2007 (UTC) And the last four were in a different category to the first ten, meaning I didn't find them until I had already checked twenty articles in the one category, which is the one at the bottom of The Big Event. Darrenhusted 19:14, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

So as not to confuse other would you mind deleting rather than striking through the comments? Darrenhusted 19:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Updated DYK query On 5 August 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Norvell Austin, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

[edit] Can You Help Me?

Hi MPJ-DK, I know you are aware of the dispute that went on about the Iconoclasm, and XiBalba on Aerial Techniques. After the long ridiculous debate, I renamed the move a Top Rope Flipping Slam and catagorized three moves underneath it in alphabetical order to be fair (Fall From Grace, Iconoclasm, and XiBalba). I re-wrote it all to ensure wikibility, and I referenced the moves (which might I add almost nothing is references on many of these pages). The account Timber99 was created right after I made the original change on the other page, and has made no other edits except to fight about this move or complain about myself or another user! Now all of a sudden, User:Lid is pulling a similar stunt where I moved everything as you suggested(Professional Wrestling Throws). My references are a story written on the wrestler from Wrestling Then & Now magazine, as well as an interview with the wrestler Brimstone. The ONLY references for the Iconoclasm are fan sites! There are no references that show this move as created by the wrestler CIMA. A lot of things concern me with this whole situation, from users to lack of proper referencing. On wiki, the claim with proper citation should stand, not an unreferenced piece of work or a poorly referenced work. Regardless, I need help. If this can not be resolved, then the whole move should come off until more referencing can be found. Now all of a sudden, Timber99 is responding to my plea to User:Spartaz. I am feeling as though something is going on here, and I am not going to accuse... however people can put two and two together WrestlefnLI 13:51, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] my editing style

hey, i know you read my proposed changes to the CM Punk article, and you already know I don't think too highly of it. As far as original research and the whole weasel/peacock words debate goes, I'm at a loss. I really don't know much about the entire laws and boudaries about that, but I can't stand to see how dull and unreadable the articles become otherwise. I mean, think about it; you can google and find all the wrestling events that a wrestler has been in during their career and if you write them in chronological order, along with attention to when they switched promotions or characters, and you make a FA? I don't think so. I don't think wikipedia should be a text dump, and I think articles should be edited with some deep, knowledgeable understanding.

Here, since you say I talk the talk but don't walk the walk, I want you to see the changes I made to Randy Orton. If you shit yourself, I know I did my job.--Screwball23 talk 02:11, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] the book refs section

I couldn't help but notice a new page dedicated to contacting users who have book references handy on wrestling facts. I'm just wondering about WrestleCrap. What exactly is it all about? I'm just wondering if there is anything really useful in there, like, what weakness does WWE have as far as appealing to the fans? Or is there is any background info on storylines? Is there any info to the backstage politics of the industry? Like, who makes the creative decisions? I'm wondering, because it looks like a book I'd like to read, and I also would like to know if you got anything useful from it.

Oh, and regarding the Randy Orton article, I realize that I did use peacock words and made some statements that are somewhat opinionated. However, I would leave it as is because it is better now than before. It is also much more interesting and removed a lot of ridiculous detail.--Screwball23 talk 19:39, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] hate to bother you again...

hey, i'm wondering about the Raging 80s book you have. Since the history of pro wrestling article is really low on pics, I'm wondering, could you scan pics from the book and place them on the site? Is that legal?--Screwball23 talk 19:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] wrestlecrap

yeah, you've got me thinking more about it now. I'm wondering, because in writing about wrestling's history, I wanted to get through to people who might not be familiar with what it is all about how wrestling has changed, and how it is based on creative storylines. The ideas of Crash TV and WWE Attitude and family-oriented characters are easy to understand for someone who watches wrestling, but for the average joe who might read the article, I'm thinking that I should write something to give people perspective on how the product changed, became stale, raunchy, or violent during its history, because not too many people are familiar with the changes that made it what it is.--Screwball23 talk 19:51, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I appreciate you going the extra mile to help me out, and it looks like it's working; I'm def sure now this is going to be a good read. If you need a favor here or there, let me know. ;) --Screwball23 talk 03:28, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stu Hart

Okay, first of all I'm sorry for all the wrong things that I may have put on the page.I put a discussion on the Hart wrestling family page about just including all the information on that page on Stu's page since he is the patriarch.I don't believe that the Harts need a whole separate page when all the information was originally on his page to begin with.We do not need another whole page for them unless you have a really goood reason to have a separate page since most of the Harts aren't as notable as Bret or Owen.I would've deleted the page for nonsense because all you did was put the family tree that was on Stu's page on the Hart Wrestling family page which I thought was stupid. And I am calm, okay and I don't have any problem except I don't see the real need for this page since there's not any new information about the family or anything. But if you have a good reason to have the page, let me hear it, please.(MgTurtle 17:07, 11 August 2007 (UTC)).

There's still nothing new to the page.I put the family and the family tree back on Stu's page (where it origianlly was) but I kept it on the Hart wrestling family and I nominated it for deletion.I know that the Hart family didn't stop when Stu passed or when Helen passed but there's no true reason to have a whole another page since the active Hart family members have their own page.I still don't see a good reason to keep the family and the family tree off of Stu hart's page since it does mention the his greatest accomplishment in life was his family.(MgTurtle 17:40, 11 August 2007 (UTC)).

[edit] Bobby Eaton flag issue

Hi MPJ-DK, I'm guessing with the flag issue, I guess we are going to have to remove some of the flags for every wrestling article that has four flags in the infobox because of that point. Davnel03 19:31, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Professional wrestling GA-like comments

Hi MPJ-DK, I have addressed the comments you have made on Triple H and Shawn Michaels - most of them I have done. A comment for Triple H's one - I have not extended the early career yet but I might extend it if I get chance. Next, I'm onto Randy Orton. Davnel03 11:59, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry to keep asking you things, but I feel this is well deserved for your hard work:
Image:Barnstar-pro-wrestling.png The Professional Wrestling Star
for improving wrestling articles to higher level and for replacing OWW sources with magazine sources. Without you Wikipedia professional wrestling articles would cease to exist and they would be virtual stubs. I feel you deserve this. Davnel03 13:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A barnstar for you

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I just wanted to let you know that your contributions are appreciated. Adding/fixing the sourcing on articles and your own Pro-wrestling project help the overall quality of pro-wrestling articles on Wikipedia. Great job! Nikki311 15:39, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Halbared

What the hell are you telling this user? This user came to my talk page about what kind of sources are supposed to be used and which ones are not and I discovered you're "blatant vandalism warning" to him. No thats not blatant vandalism, and you shouldn't confuse someone whose intent is to harm Wikipedia with someone who is editing with good faith. Yes, book sources are more reliable than fan sites like OWW, but reverting as vandalism when it's not vandalism, is not looked good upon, and users have been blocked for abusing edit summaries no less.

And Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#www.onlineworldofwrestling.com actually doesn't make it out to be unreliable, just not to be used as a sole references for an entire article. It's not being blacklisted, it's reliable, and the problem of it being used as a sole references in an article is being fixed by WP:PW. I know you know better than to decieve editors into thinking one thing thats not true, right? — Moe ε 16:20, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

No it's not as reliable as the book source, but pointing that out should have been handled better than "I'm giving you a blatant vandalism warning" type messages, thats not blatant vandalism, any which way you look at it. If he blunders, you are expected to conduct yourself in a civil manner and not resort to misusing vandalism tags that don't apply. OWW is a tertiary source, being a tertiary source doesn't automatically make it unreliable. There are many several instances on OWW that are reliable, and rarely anything on there is untrue. I told this editor to use better sources than OWW, and whenever a better source is available, to use it. There is no consensus to state it is unrelaible at the discussion you linked and there sure as hell no consensus to blacklist it. There was no attack upon you, confronting you about your conduct towards editors is perfectly allowed on Wikipedia. And FYI WP:ILIKEIT doesn't apply to discussions about sourcing, it refers to XFD discussions. — Moe ε 21:25, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Look, the main reason I came here was that you called him a blatant vandal, he's not a blatant vandal and shouldn't be labeled as one, which you quite clearly called him. You don't call editors trying help the encyclopedia vandals when you disagree with thier edits, period. Thank you! — Moe ε 16:12, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Eddie Fatu

I look forward to the comments you make about the article. Thanks. Davnel03 19:06, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

The article looks in a bit of a mess, and with so much to do, I think it would be better to go ahead and fail the article, as its going to take quite a bit of time to rectify the current problems. Plus, the articles been vandalised as what has come out about him possibly being suspended. Thanks - Davnel03 09:27, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Fabulous Kangaroos

(cross posted from the Pro Wrestling talk page) I've just finished my copyediting of The Fabulous Kangaroos (I'm sure it could be better but I made a lot of progress) and have posted some comments and questions about the article on its talk page. Please read the talk page when you have time, and answer my question if you can. Thanks, --Naha|(talk) 05:53, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh wow, thanks for the barnstar! I had no idea you were a Dane either heh ;) Copyediting is probably my strongest area ..the thing I do best around here, so if you ever need my help in the future, with that or anything else, please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks again, --Naha|(talk) 20:20, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA/FA guidelines

(also left a response on my talk page too). Ok I've done a lot of copyediting on that page but I am not done yet and am breaking for now to watch the SummerSlam PPV! Not quite ready for you to post it to WP:PW yet if you can hold out. Thanks, --Naha|(talk) 00:00, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I should be able to finish this tomorrow hopefully, today is really busy. Thanks, --Naha|(talk) 22:09, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
I've done a bit more work on it, but I can't help but feel like its still missing something ..I just don't know what. I'm also not sure if there is enough information about FA ...most of it is GA stuff. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. --Naha|(talk) 00:04, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Al Costello

I've done some more work on copyediting this article tonight, but I'm still not completely satisfied with it. Hopefully I can look at it again at some point during this week. --Naha|(talk) 02:37, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Steriods Conversation

Thanks for jumping in there and saving everyone. It was getting a bit heated and I was getting concerned that I was participating in such a conversation and furthering it along, but I kept going because I really wanted to make sure the Wikipedia polices were understood. I've been on Moe's side of the same type of conversation before and its not exactly fun, however the experience caused me to delve into Wikipedia policy a lot more so that I'd know (most of the time anyway) what I was talking about. While I've come a long way as far as understanding Wikipedia, I still have a ways to go as far as "knowing when to quit" and I freely admit that. I've gotten alot better though and will keep trying to do so. --Naha|(talk) 15:21, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

On that note:

The Wiki Wiffle Bat
I, Naha award MPJ-DK The Wiki Wiffle Bat due to his exceptional skill in the area(s) of logic, rationality, dispute resolution/mediation particularly in the face of flames and general animosity regarding the heated Steriod debate at WP:PW. Keep swinging his bat in the face of long odds and distant goals! You have my sincerest thanks, Naha|(talk) 15:21, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kurt Angle

Just dropping you a line to let you know that I've finished addressing all of your and Naha's comments on Kurt Angle's article. She seems to agree. Will you go take a look? Nikki311 00:47, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:PW

I completely understand your frustration and choice to leave and have been riding the fence myself the last few days but am not yet ready to throw in the towel. I appologize if I have in any way contributed to your hair pulling, as I know I have been pretty vocal in some of the more heated discussions as of late. I'm honestly just trying to help keep this thing out of the gutter. Your contributions to these articles and input in discussions in the area of pro wrestling will be greatly missed; you are an excellent editor. I know wherever you decide to focus your Wiki-attention on now will greatly benefit from you contributions. /salute --Naha|(talk) 17:10, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NWF and such

Dude, thanks for keeping my Terry Taylor update, the match happened on Prime Time Wrestling in June or July of 1988.

As for the NWF wrestlers, come talk to me sometime, there's lots of things I know about that federation and the wrestlers too. I'll even write you a list that you can allow me to edit. Take care man

[edit] December to Dismember (2006)

Would you mind having a look over December to Dismember (2006), as the article is currently up for peer review. I'd be grateful for any thoughts you might have on the article, and that you leave your thoughts on the article here. Many thanks in advance, Davnel03 20:37, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] more notes

Jack Petruzzi, older brother was a lot better than poor AJ :) He challenged for the NWF title on numerous occasions. Many people have not heard of the Div Div Monster, whose real name is pretty ordinary (Steven Smith). But I have lots of details if you wish to know. See ya man.

[edit] Pedro Morales

Online cites appear somewhat hard to find, I guess because his career was before the internet era but I found these two [1][2] wich are quite informative, as well as his official WWE profile [3]. - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:53, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

I will squeze all that can be useful out of what we already got between today and tommorow but some new material is more than welcome, I wonder if somebody within the project has a public photo of him. - Caribbean~H.Q. 14:58, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Findind anything new has been a pain, of the few references out there that aren't Wikipedia mirrors none of the ones I have read provide something new, any luck with the magazines? - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:17, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Library

I noticed you removed all of your entries from the WP:PW library as your no-longer connected with WP:PW. However, wouldn't it of been best if you kept your book on there in case any member of the project needs to contact you for a particular detail of Jerry Lawler which is set to be the COTW next week. Without your details on there, we wouldn't know who had particular books, and therefore we wouldn't be able to get info we needed. Although its obviously your choice (and I respect whatever decision you make), I strongly suggest you reinsert the details on your books and VHS' back onto the page. If you don't, us at WP:PW are losing out on what could be very useful information without your details on the page. Thanks, Davnel03 16:35, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Al Costello

I had a chance to go through the article today. It's looking really good. I made a few very small changes. I had a couple of thoughts, though.

  • It would be nice to have an internal link to List of NWA territories, as the article refers to a few territories that don't have articles. Perhaps one of the times you refer to a territory on the list (NWA Detroit, NWA Western States, etc.).
  • At the end, you mention that Al Snow focused on his WWF career. You haven't stated what the WWF is by that point, though. You mention Capitol Wrestling, the WWWF, and WWE, but not WWF. Perhaps another internal link (it could go to the WWE article, which would inform the reader about what the WWF is/was).

Anyhow, just a couple of thoughts. Again, great job. GaryColemanFan 21:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

One last thing...it would be good if you could source some of the information in the infobox (specifically, his birth date, trainer, and debut). There's apparently some conflicting information, and some of the information is difficult to find sources for. GaryColemanFan 21:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Don Kent (wrestler)

I've gone through the first few sections of this article, and I have a few comments:

It's hard to tell if the references apply to entire paragraphs or just the final sentence. Does reference #2 discuss Kent's high school, the Red Sox's interest and working at the VAMC, or just the VAMC part? And am I correct in assuming that it should say "Kent worked at a Veterans Administration Medical Center" instead of "as"?
Fixed. GaryColemanFan 20:02, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
At the final paragraph of the "Fabulous Kangaroos" section, you mention twice that Costello needed a full hip replacement. This seems redundant.

That's all so far, but I'll finish going through it when I have a chance. Good work so far. GaryColemanFan 03:47, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

One more thing for now: near the end of the Working Alone paragraph, you say that Kent beat Colon but then lost the title. What title did he win from Colon? It's not mentioned in the article. GaryColemanFan 17:38, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I made it through the article (it's been a busy weekend), and I have a couple more questions:

In the "Kangaroo return" section, it says that Kent was replaced with "Johnny Heffernan". The article seems to indicate that it was actually Bekkar who was replaced by Heffernan.
It also says that Kent and Costello took Dillon's side against Costello. I'm assuming that it was actually Kent and Heffernan.

I hope this is helping. I don't want to make any major changes, since I'm definitely no expert on the Kangaroos. There are just those four concerns remaining, and I think the article should be good to go. GaryColemanFan 20:02, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

The section that I am confused about is the final sentence in the "Working alone" paragraph: "Shortly after losing the Caribbean title, Kent moved up a level and defeated Puerto Rican legend Carlos Colón on August 3, 1979 only to lose the title to Invader I three weeks later in Ponce, Puerto Rico."
This takes place after he lost the Caribbean title, so what title did he lose to Invader I? Did Kent win it from Colon? I believe you're referring to the WWC North American Heavyweight Championship, but this isn't actually stated in the article. GaryColemanFan 21:45, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/December to Dismember (2006)

I noticed you were having a few discussions with Lex about the "Event" section, and the pre-determined thing. As I nominated it for FAC, I have brought it up at WP:PW to get a thorough consensus on this (along with other issues concerning the article). I hope you don't mind, but I have mentioned you in the post. The discussion (which you will probably want to comment on) is here. Thanks! Davnel03 12:22, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately it's been failed. As I nominated it only four days ago, I've left a message on Raul's talkpage, asking him to let the FAC keep going if that's possible. :( Davnel03 14:38, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Seems unlikely. Lex94 appears to be a reasonable guy. Of course this is my opinion of the guy based on his contributions today. I haven't had the chance to meet him yet though I am looking forward to collaborating with him and other new WP:PW members as well as my old pals in the near future. For now everything seems alright.-- bulletproof 3:16 05:07, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA Reviews/Apology

I've seen the GA reviews that you've done of some professional wrestling articles, and I think you've done a great job at being objective and giving constructive feedback. I'm assuming your comments on the WP:PW discussion page were (at least in part) a response to a statement I recently made. I wanted to let you know that I have absolutely no problem with the GA reviews that you've done. My concern is when I see a review that is passed without any comments or recommendations for improvements. I have reservations about other reviews that I've seen, but I couldn't think of any way to say "I'd like someone outside WP:PW to review this article, but MPJ-DK would also be okay." I want to thank you for the great job you've done at reviewing articles, and I want to apologize if you thought I was implying that your reviews show any subjectivity or conflict of interest. Please don't quit doing them on my account. GaryColemanFan (talk) 00:17, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for commenting on the FAC. I have replied to your comments, and i admit that I probably nominated it a little too soo. I look forward to your replies. Thanks, Davnel03 10:09, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for all the comments on the FAC. I was wondering, if you are satisfied with the progress made from the comments, whether you could change or opinion to Neutral or Support. I'm not forcing you to, but just wondered whether you could consider it. Thanks, Davnel03 16:13, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] King of the Ring (1994)

Thanks for your comments on this article. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on Wikipedia about references in the lead. I was told that they weren't necessary, so I left them out. During the Peer Review, I was told to add them. In the GA Review, I was told that they should come out. I'll look into what the actual standards are and work on that if necessary. As for the "in universe" comments, you're probably right. I've wikilinked several phrases that make it clear that wrestling is scripted, but it could probably use more clarification. I don't want to overdo it, as I'd rather have it be a B-level article than fill it with "He was booked to win the match. After that, he was booked to lose the title the next night. Soon after, he was booked to regain it..." I've got a really busy week coming up, but I'll do what I can to continue improving the article. Hi! The Talia Madison article has landed at Wikipedia:Deletion review again: Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2008 January 14#Talia Madison.

This time around, User:Tigrahawk has created a version of the article in userspace in the hope of it being reckoned to sufficiently demonstrate notability: it can be found at User:Tigrahawk/Sandbox

Since you were one of the knowledgeable commenters at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Talia Madison, I was wondering if you might take a look at it and let me know what you think? [edit] Wrestling Title Histories book

Hi, I saw that you own this book and I was wondering if you could help with something. I've been looking for references for the WWF Intercontinental Tag Team Championship article, but I haven't been able to find anything online. I was wondering if it's in your book. I'd like to reference the fact that the titles were awarded to Hamada and Aguayo as well as the reason for the title being abandoned. If you could help with that (either by adding it to the article or by letting me know the page numbers and the reason for getting rid of the title), I would really appreciate it. My apologies on that. The OWOW page has been changed since the last time I looked at it. Thanks for correcting that. ;) ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 19:53, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

I see you got to it. The source is from this website: http://redout.org/ipb/index.php?showtopic=13513&mode=threaded&pid=145942. I think that is a little bit out of date, but I think that this is what I know. I think that there is a little bit more. Mostly I think I can cited that he had to go to a fuenral for his grandfather.Miss Lindsie aka LindsieandLance 20:46, 24 March 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by LindsieandLance (talkcontribs)

[edit] Robert Horne (Mo)

The only citation I know of was a copy of the local newspaper the Herald Citizen. But I do not have a copy of it. I am gonna try to get one. It is sad, but it is true that he did those things. But I understand the problems of posting it without citation. --DanteAgusta (talk) 13:42, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Money Inc.

I'm GA reviewing the article right now. I asked for a link to the discussion about naming the article Money Inc. vs Money Incorporated. I can't clearly tell from your comment which name you felt was proper. Would you please state your opinion on the article's talk page here? You can abstain if you want too. I don't want to beat this dead horse, just make sure that consensus was reached. Royalbroil 21:26, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Mysterio

Damn, I didn't realise. Some were Rey Misterio, Jr. so I probably jst read it wrong. No, I don't know anyone with a bot, but it's all good. My screw-up, so I'll go back over my contribs and see if I can spot them. Thanks for letting me know. ;) ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 15:24, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dooba

Much as I respect you, you have to refreshen your wrestling knowledge, as being fair I would like to help you out if you need be. Ted's nickname should be placed there because I was at many events with him being called that, plus it's a given nickname by family and he (although very little) used it in the 80's before got rich in WWF/E. This isn't an attack on you, just so you know, just wanted to help you out a little. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Closed Tip Ipp Ipp (talkcontribs) 23:20, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

I've sent him a message. -The Hybrid- 23:30, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Next February, 2009, Dibiase's autobiography will be out, as I am one of the editors, if it means I have to wait that long to include that REAL nickname I will wait then. Any further questions, please write to me. Closed Tip Ipp Ipp (talk) 09:16, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Closed Tip Ipp Ipp (talk) 09:16, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your wrestling books

Hi, I'm wondering if you could look up your copy of either "Wrestling Title Histories" or PWI's "2007 Wrestling Almanac & Book of Facts" and see if there are any title histories for the unsourced titles here? I would appreciate any response. Regard, Gavyn Sykes (talk) 20:08, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Also with the "2007 Wrestling Almanac & book of facts", can you see if there is any information regarding Starrcade (1985)? Thanks. --13 of Diamonds (talk) 22:04, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
