The Steyr-Solothurn S1-100 (also known as Steyr MP30, MP34, m/935 and MP34(ö)) submachine gun was designed by Louis Stange of the company Rheinische Metallwaren und Maschinenfabrik (Rheinmetall) in its branch in Sömmerda[1].

[edit] History

The development of submachine guns was prohibited for Germany under the Versailles Treaty. Therefore, Rheinmetall cooperated with companies in Switzerland and Austria[2].
