[edit] Music video
The music video of the song shows Tyson Ritter standing in front of the camera singing before rapidly switching to the next shot of him wearing a different outfit again and again while syncing the whole song. Also, the drummer Chris Gaylor can be seen wearing a t-shirt for the crust punk band Filth.
[edit] Chart performance
The song charted at #15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and went top 10 on the Pop 100 Airplay chart. It also went to #4 on the Hot Digital Tracks chart. "Move Along" was also featured in the new Bionicle commercial for the Toa Inika.
The track stayed in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 50 for 39 weeks because of the amount of time it took to surface. It was released in January and peaked at #1 in TRL but didn't chart until late March because their first single Dirty Little Secret was still all over the charts. It was the #21 rated song of my year 2006.
The band performed the song at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. The video for "Move Along" won the award for "Best Group Video" at that ceremony.
To date, the single has sold over 1 million downloads. "Move Along" is now The All-American Rejects' second single to sell more than a million downloads, the first single being "Dirty Little Secret".

- At the beginning and half part of the music video, Tyson Ritter appears to commit suicide by falling on an empty swimming pool (a possible reference to the death of his touring keyboardist, Timothy Jordan II).
- The pre-chorus is, "hands are shaking cold, your hands are mine to hold." In the CD booklet, it is seen that "hands for millions cold, these hands were meant to hold" and "hands for millions cold, your hands aren't worth the hold" were considered.
- This song was featured at the end and in the credits of the film She's the Man, and the opening credits and beginning of The Hitcher. It is also used in commercials for the American Heart Association.

- In Firehouse Dog, the part where the stray dog is in the obstacle course, the song plays.
- The titular line is sung so that it sounds like the command "Mow the lawn." This confusion has led to something of a mobius strip resurgence of the backmasking phenomenon, and the song came under scrutiny for condoning child subservience.
