Talk:Mountain View High School (Mountain View, California)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My first inclination is to nominate this article for deletion. The library is as lacking in notability as any other high school library (i.e. entirely). The historical information in the first paragraph is all contained in the article Mountain View High School (Mountain View, California), except for the fact that a new library was built in 2001. That in itself does not justify a separate article, maybe a footnote in the high school article.
The quoted goals of the library lack any citation or reference and are entirely standard, adding nothing of note.
The piece ended with a short opinion on Wikipedia (now deleted), which was of no relevance to this particular library (i.e. any more than it would be relevant to the debate on the accuracy of Wikipedia versus books or libraries in general). I suggest that the author might want to add it to the articles (or talk pages) of libraries, Wikipedia, or books, where it can stand or fall on its merits. Tt 225 16:46, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Definitely would not survive an AFD. Apparently a vandal magnet. Needs to be merged and then prodded. Derex 21:44, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
This page was mostly for the edification of students. Though most of the rationale for its deletion is solid, the assertion that the historical information in the first paragraph is all contained in the article about the high school is false. Wikipedia containing false information??? Shocking, isn't it?
- Well, by all means take a look at the Mountain View High School (Mountain View, California) article as it now stands, including the information pulled in during the merge. Look at your original historical information. List all of the extra info, but discount everything for which there isn't a verified, independent, reliable third-party source (as required by Wikipedia's policies) and let us know what got wrongly omitted? Then if there is a source for that information, put it in and improve the article maybe? I did try to keep all valid information during the merge but am open to having improvements made. I just followed the Newsweek link and it's clear that in 2005, Mountain View was ranked 291. The 258 ranking was from 2006. Why so much confusion? SongMonk 02:11, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
