[edit] Origin of the Minangkabau: Stelae?

According to an unsourced legend, the reader is told, Marapi is "the origin" of the Minangkabau. Were they baked as in a kiln? Any detail vouchsafed here would aid the reader. The connection ("accordingly") with upright burial stones (why aren't these stelae?) in the region is obscure: how are upright stele "oriented in the direction of the mountain"? Are they inscribed to differentiate front from back? --Wetman (talk) 17:11, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
