[edit] History

Before 1982 the school was named Chester F Awalt High School. When the district closed the original Mountain View High School (in downtown Mountain View), it renamed Awalt High as Mountain View High, since it was now the only district high school in Mountain View (being located on the border between Mountain View and Los Altos). Awalt's original library, dating from 1961, was turned into classrooms in 2001, and a new multi-million dollar library was constructed on a different part of the Mountain View campus. Most of the materials from the old library were transferred to the new library.

[edit] Classes

Mountain View High School offers a wide variety of classes. In the 2008-2009 additional courses are being supplemented to the course catalog such as, Photography II. This high school also holds an open enrollment policy: anyone may register for any class being offered at the school, regardless of the student's grade.
