Mount Pleasant High School is a public secondary school located in Wilmington, Delaware. It is the only public high school in Delaware authorized to teach the rigorous International Baccalaureate program. It has been in its present building since 1958, and a part of the Brandywine School District since 1978.
Mount Pleasant's field hockey team was co-champion of the Flight B Blue Hen conference in fall 2007, and advanced to the second round of the state tournament. Wrestling Coach Dionie Lum received the Coach of the Year honor for the Flight B Blue Hen Conference in 2007.[citation needed]
Mount Pleasant's swimming team were Flight B Conference champions in the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons. They placed 2nd in the conference during the 2007-2008 season.[citation needed]
Mount Pleasant's Academic Bowl team placed 2nd in the 2008 Comcast Academic Challenge of Delaware[citation needed], and placed 5th in the 2007 event[1]
The 2008 spring sports season was successful for Mount teams. The boy's track team swept their Flight B conference, as did the boy's tennis team in their most successful season to date, both teams beating out arch-district rival schools Brandywine and Concord High Schools. The girl's soccer team is not far behind. They played Brandywine to win the Flight B conference as well, but lost 3-2 to give Brandywine the title for the second year in a row.
Mount Pleasant is also the only high school in the region to hold their own Relay For Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society. The first Relay was held in 2004, and it has continued ever since, raising over $125,000 to date.[citation needed]
