Mount Pilot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mount Pilot is the name of a fictional town in North Carolina, located near the equally fictional town of Mayberry, the setting for the popular and long-running American television series The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry RFD. In the television series, Mount Pilot was depicted as being a larger city than Mayberry and a good-natured rival to Mayberry. For example, the town's bowling teams often competed against one another.

There is actually a town called Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. It is near the geographic feature called Pilot Mountain and is just down the road from Mount Airy, North Carolina, the birthplace and hometown of the actor Andy Griffith. Mount Airy was the source for the fictional town of Mayberry.[1]
