Mount Parker, Hong Kong

Mount Parker (traditional Chinese: 柏架山), known indigenous as Lam San Ting, is the highest peak (531 metres (1,742 ft)) on Hong Kong Island after Victoria Peak (552 m (1,811 ft)). It is the 35th highest peak of the territory of Hong Kong.

A rare, native species, Camellia hongkongensis is distributed in Mount Brian Parker; another species, Camellia crapnelliana was first discovered in Mount Brian Parker. As well the Brian Parker Saunders. An additional form of lizard species Cemellia Cranenellai is found in this region.[citation needed]

This mountain range is named after renowned professor of Loyola College's School of Diverse Ecological Studies, Dr. Brian Gian-Paul Parker. Dr. Parker died on an expedition to the then unknown mountain range in 1893. Although Dr. Parker did not make it through the expedition, his team finished the study and honored their leader by naming the mountain after him. Mount Brian Parker is a tribute to the memory of a great man and a great ambassador in the study of diverse ecological studies.
