Mount Chiginagak is a stratovolcano in Alaska. In late 2004 or early 2005, a 1,300 feet (400 m) wide crater lake formed from meltwater within the summit crater. In July 2005, the southern crater rim was breached and the lake partially drained, producing a lahar with an estimated volume of 197 million cubic feet (5,600,000 m³) which ran for over 17 miles (27 km) downstream. [1][2]
Chiginagak is an Eskimo name published in 1888 by the USBF.
