Mount Carmel High School (MCHS) is the only high school in Mount Carmel, Illinois, which is in southern Illinois, just across the Wabash River from Gibson County, Indiana. Other towns that send students to MCHS include Allendale, Patton, Keensburg, and Friendsville. Enrollment is also possible for residents of Cowling, although their students are usually sent to the nearby school in Grayville.

In 2005, 633 students enrolled in MCHS. At present, they have met their obligations for at least the last two years under No Child Left Behind. They report average ACT composite scores of 20.2, a mere 0.1 points higher than the state average.

Mount Carmel High School is in the Big Eight Conference. It is the only school to be part of an IHSAA - Sanctioned conference since the late 70's
