Mount Albert Grammar School Observatory is a school astronomical observatory in Mount Albert, Auckland, New Zealand. Built in 2007, the observatory has a Meade LX200R 12" Schmidt-Cassegrain F/10 telescope. The observatory uses an SBIG ST7XME CCD camera for imaging and photometry, and is fully computer controlled. The MAGS Observatory is used for both school education and active research.
The MAGS Observatory is the largest and most advanced observatory in any school in New Zealand, and one of only a few school observatories in the world that is capable of scientific astrophysics research. Research projects will include search for exoplanets by both gravitational microlensing and transit method.
