Mouhamed Saer Sene (born May 12, 1986) is a Senegalese professional basketball player who was drafted 10th overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2006 NBA Draft. He is noted to have great shot-blocking potential because of his 7'8½" wingspan[1] and drew early comparisons to NBA greats Dikembe Mutombo, Hakeem Olajuwon and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

On January 11, 2007, the Seattle SuperSonics assigned Sene to the NBA Development League's Idaho Stampede.[2]

In the 2007-08 season, Sene got an honorable mention for the All-NBA Development league teams. He played 28 games for the Idaho Stampede starting in five. He averaged 12.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 28.2 minutes per game, with highs of 30 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocks.

On April 4, 2008, Sene suffered a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee in his first game back with the Idaho Stampede after being sent back to the D-League for the second time in the 2007-08 season.[3] The extent of the injury was shown in a MRI. The team is in the process of figuring out when and where he will have surgery.[3]

Along with Stephane Lasme, Mouhamed Sene was named the D-League Defensive player of the year. “We are pleased that the D-League has chosen to recognize Mo’s contributions to the Stampede’s success this season,” said Sam Presti, SuperSonics General Manager. “This award is a credit to Mo’s focus on his developmental goals during his assignment, and we are pleased with his progress.” Lasme and Sene join Renaldo Major (Dakota, 2006-07), Derrick Zimmerman (Austin 2005-06, Columbus 2004-05), Karim Shabazz (Charleston 2003-04), (Mikki Moore) (Roanoke 2002-03) and Jeff Myers (Greenville 2001-02) as winners of the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Along with Sonics teammates Johan Petro and Mickael Gelabale, Sene is a French speaker.[4]
