[edit] Introduction

Nameless gained his status during his younger days by winning duels and killing many fighters. He defeated the previous Sword Saint (not the current reincarnation) twice and later achieved the Heavenly Sword (天劍) level.

After the death of his wife (poisoned by Po Kuan), he faked his death and retired from the martial world. His retirement did not last long as the later events would cause him to get involved again. However, he returned to the martial world not as a fierce fighter who thirst for victories, but as an experienced veteran who helps save the martial world from arch villains. He only specialises in sword-fighting. His weapon is the Hero Sword (英雄劍) but he is equally capable of fighting using his fingers as sword or emitting sword energy from his body.

Nameless lost his right arm when fighting the arch villain Dai Seik Tin.

[edit] Early days

Nameless (無名) was born into a poor family who lived nearby a powerful general, General Mou (慕將軍). Both Nameless's mother and General Mou's wife were pregnant at the same time.

In the far west, the undefeated legend Sword Saint was told of a prophecy that he would be defeated by someone from the east. Sword Saint travelled east with the intention to challenge the prophesied person. Powerful sword energy led Sword Saint to General Mou's residence and he realised that the energy came from General Mou's pregnant wife. The following day, Sword Saint issued a letter of challenge to General Mou for a duel with the general's unborn son in 18 years' time.

General Mou's son was born slightly earlier than Nameless. When both infants were born, their parents felt that their sons would become heroes one day. Hence, General Mou's son was named Mou Ying Hung (慕應雄) while Nameless was named Wai Ying Hung (韋英雄). Wanting to create a decoy to fight Sword Saint, General Mou paid Nameless's father to adopt Nameless. Nameless's name was changed from Wai Ying Hung to Mou Ying Ming. Mou Ying Hung and Nameless grew up as close brothers.

[edit] Teenage years

Both Nameless and Mou Ying Hung have great talents in swordsplay. However, Nameless had a pessimistic personality while his foster brother always laughed and had great self-confidence.

When both were aged 16, their adventures brought them to a mountain where they found two Hero Swords. There they also met Sword Saint who was impatient to fight the prophesied person. Both the brothers fought Sword Saint but Nameless was badly injured and lost all his physical fighting abilities. They managed to escape from Sword Saint and returned home with the two Hero Swords.

Nameless wanted to give up martial arts altogether. Knowing his brother's pessimistic nature and wanting to force Nameless to take up the sword again, Mou Ying Hung then planned a betrayal against China with his father General Mou. Feeling angry and disapponted, Nameless then relinquished the name Mou Ying Ming (given by his foster father) and called himself Nameless ever since. He forced himself to learn swordsplay again by becoming a disciple of Kim Zhong (劍宗), a school where swordsplay originated. He was a disciple of Kim Wai, alongside the menace Po Kuan (破軍) - son of Kim Wai. One day, Nameless rescued a girl from being taken advantage by Po Kuan. The girl later on became Nameless's wife.

Nameless duelled with Po Kuan to determine the disciple who would inherit the manual for Kim Zhong's most powerful sword stance, Man Kim Gwai Zhong (萬劍歸宗). Nameless was on the verge of winning when Kim Wai froze the entire place and spectators to prevent Po Kuan from losing. The contest ended without a victor and both Nameless and Po Kuan left the frozen school.

With a renewed sword skills, Nameless faced-off with his foster brother. Legend has it that the two users of the Hero Swords had to duel to determine the true hero and master of the one Hero Sword. The victor will be destined to take the path of Heavenly Sword (天劍). Mou Ying Hung intentionally lost the duel to allow Nameless to be successful in the martial world. Since then, Mou Ying Hung shied away from the martial world.

[edit] Reaching His Pinnacle, Death of His Wife and Retirement

Nameless travelled across the martial world with his wife, winning many battles, killing many fighters and made many friends and enemies. He rescued a disfigured man, taught the man martial arts and the man (Ghostly Tiger) became one of Nameless's three faithful servants.

He created his own set of sword stance - Mok Ming Sword Stance.

Nameless also met and duelled with the Sword Saint. It is then revealed that Nameless was the actual prophesied defeater of Sword Saint. Not satisfied of losing, Sword Saint continued improving his skills from Sword 21 to Sword 22 and challenged Nameless again. Sword Saint also lost the rematch.

Unknowingly to Nameless, Po Kuan later came and poisoned Nameless's wife. Feeling devastated by the death of his wife and remorseful for the deaths of many fighters by his sword, Nameless faked his own death and retired from the martial world for many years. He added a new sword stance to the Mok Ming stances - the sorrowful Bei Tong Mok Ming (悲痛莫名) and took on a young disciple named Kim Sun (劍晨).

[edit] Relationship with Cloud

In the very first chapter of the series, Nameless and his first apprentice Kim Sun rescued the young Cloud (who was then known as Fok Keng Gok) from the killers of the Fok family and gave him shelter. While recovering from his injury, Cloud secretly watched Nameless train Kim Sun Bei on the Bei Tong Mok Ming stance for several nights in a row. Cloud was highly impressed with his rescuer and felt that Nameless can teach him the sword skills to avenge his stepfather's death. The fast-learning and sorrowful Cloud managed to learn Nameless's sorrowful sword stance. The following day, Cloud challenged Kim Sun using the stance and tried to impress Nameless to take him as an apprentice. However, Nameless refused because he felt that Cloud is merciless and too vengeful as a kid. Nameless intended to send Cloud to be guided by his monk friend. The angry Cloud ran away and later joined Hung Ba's Tin Ha Wui.

Many years later, a fortune teller hinted to Nameless that he will get a new disciple, someone with "Cloud" in his name. Nameless came across the kid he once rescued (now known as Bou Keng Wan) who was on a killing spree in Tin Ha Wui to search for the defeated Hung Ba. Nameless confiscated Cloud's Ultimate Superior Sword and lured Cloud to a temple where he and Cloud duelled. Cloud won the duel and Nameless kept his promise to return his sword. At the same time, Nameless's first disciple Kim Sun was kidnapped and forced to do evil deeds by Po Kuan.

The emergence of arch villain Juet Mou San pitted Nameless and Cloud together to save the martial world. Cloud's sword could not realise its full potential unless it had been "officiated" by the hottest thing in the world. Nameless then realised that a tear drop from a cold-hearted Cloud is the hottest thing that one can ever obtain. Nameless tricked Cloud into plunging the Ultimate Superior sword into Nameless's shoulder one night. When Cloud found out the truth, he shed a tear and told Nameless that he no longer bore any grudge against him. In fact, Nameless is the person Cloud respects most. And with the "officiated" sword, they stood a chance to beat Juet Mou San and both travelled to Japan to face the arch villain.

After surviving a long and difficult battle, they defeated Juet Mou San, returned to China and Nameless officially accepted Cloud as his new disciple.

[edit] Hero Sword - Broken and Reforged

Nameless passed on the Hero Sword to his first disciple Kim Sun. Because Kim Sun lack true heroism, the user did not suit the Hero Sword and thus the sword was smashed into pieces by Duen Long's Fire Kirin Sword. Nameless kept the broken Hero Sword and allowed his next disciple Cloud to use it during a mission. Many years later, his foster brother Mou Ying Hung forged a new Hero Sword for Nameless.

[edit] The Ultimate Brotherly Duel

After their first duel, Mou Ying Hung could never be at peace with himself all his life. Though he did not regret giving away the chance to Nameless, as a swordsman he needed to know who is better between the brothers. Later when he knew that his life was nearing the end, Mou Ying Hung set up an ultimate duel with Nameless. Out of fairness, Mou Ying Hung cut his right arm to be on par with the one-armed Nameless. They fought the duel of their lives, using all their might and best skills. In the end, Mou Ying Hung won the duel by a slight margin and died weeks later.

[edit] Death?

The brotherly duel had created a portal between the martial world and the spiritual world, and a strange demon emerged from it. Feeling responsible for the birth of this monster, Nameless gathered up the top names of the world to deal with the threat. With Cloud, Wind, Po Kuan, Sword Saint, and many other swordsmen working together, Nameless was able to send the demon back into the spiritual realm it came from -- at the price of his life. Both Nameless and the demon were sealed into the portal, and while the demon has recently reemerged, Nameless has since remained absent, but the most recent comics show that he is alive but he has lost all his abilities and his memory. Gui Hu stays faithfully by his side along with Zi Lu.
