Black and white photograph of adult male silverback mountain gorilla (Gorilla gorilla berengei). Shows three quarter face partially obscured by foliage. This gorilla is the dominant of two silverbacks in the Nkuringo troop in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda at the time the photograph was taken.

Taken in January 2005 by Kurt Ackermann (Wikipedia member KMRA) using a Pentax K-1000 camera body with a Sigma 100-300 zoom lens and Fuji ASA 1600 speed film. Scanned using a desktop flatbed scanner in RGB colorspace and cropped to 360x328 pixels.
