Motorcycle stunt riding is a growing sport in the UK and the United States. Although people have been stunting motorcycles for many years, with acts like the Royal Signals White Helmets, most would agree that it was Gary Rothwell who really kicked off the modern street stunt riding, by writing a widely sold book on the underground sport. Today more and more groups are forming, such as in the US where there are hundreds of stunt teams such as d-Aces, Controlled Insanity and Starboyz. "Stunting" motorcycles on public roads are against the law in the United States, although many people participate in this way. Todd Colbert was one of the first people to get stunters off the street, and onto a track to perform officially in front of a crowd.

[edit] Cytrix Display Team
At the end of World War II, several members of the White Helmets team (within the Royal Signals) formed their own display team – Cytrix. It is rumoured that the TT star, Geoff Duke, almost joined the team – they were all friends in The Signals. Over some 20 years up to 1967 they toured mainly the UK, but also on two occasions the US (across 23 mid-west states over 4 months) and Europe. They appeared at many UK agricultural shows and at Wembley on a number of occasions during the Speedway finals.
The four consistent members of the team were Basil Shelbourne, Ted Way, Jet Jones and Neil Hack. Originally they rode Matchless bikes but for many later years rode BSA Gold Stars. Stunts were typically run at speeds of 60 mph and included tunnel-of-fire jumps. They rode without crash helmets or leathers, just shirt, tie, jodhpurs and riding boots.
