The Motor Sports Association (MSA, formerly known as RAC MSA), a sister organisation of the Royal Automobile Club (RAC), is the official governing body of motorsport in the United Kingdom. It holds responsibility within the UK for the administration of all major types of four-wheeled motorsport, in circuit racing and rallying, and the administration of their regulations. It comprises over 700 motoring and racing clubs around the country, organised into fifteen regional associations.[1] Certain major events, such as the Formula One and MotoGP races, are administered by their respective governing bodies and the MSA's involvement is largely confined to the provision of marshals and the promotion of the events. Responsibility for the commercial aspects of event management is held by a subsidiary company of the MSA, known as International Motor Sports Limited.[2]
The organisation is presided over by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, supported by chairmen Graham Stoker and Alan Gow and chief executive officer Colin Hilton.[3]
