Motiya Chowdhury

Motiya Chowdhury (Bangla: মতিয়া চৌধুরী) is a prominent Bangladeshi politician. She is currently a presidium member of Awami League, a major political party. She was a Member of Parliament and a cabinet member under the prime ministership of Sheikh Hasina.
She is well known in South Asia for her fiery speeches and her adamant attitude, qualities that have earned her the nick name of Ogni Konna or Girl of Fire. Although she started her political career with the left-wing party, National Awami Party or NAP, she is now one of the most senior leaders of the Awami League.
She is married to Bajlur Rahman, editor of The Daily Sangbad, one of the oldest Bangla dailies in existence.
