Mother of Fraternities

The Mother of Fraternities is a term commonly used to refer to two different universities, each of which played a critical role in establishing the Greek system in the United States of America.
- Union College is the first of the two, seeing the foundation of the Union Triad from 1825 to 1827.
- Miami University is the latter of the two, seeing the foundation of the Miami Triad from 1839 to 1855 as well as Phi Kappa Tau (1906).
