Mother Teresa Women's University is a public university located at Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India. The University earns a distinctive place in the higher education system as the only university exclusively devoted to women's issues. The University was established in 1984 by the enactment of Tamil Nadu Act 15. As enunciated in the Act, it is given the responsibility of monitoring, offering consultancy services and research in the areas of Women's Studies. However, to equip women to face the changing educational demand the University offers various useful courses by distance mode. The School of Distance Education of Mother Teresa Women's University was started in 1988 at Kodaikanal.

These courses are open to women candidates only. Courses offered are: MPhil (two years) in Computer Science, Economics, Education, English, Historical Studies, Tamil, Sociology, Family Life Management, Women's Studies; MA (two years) in Women's Studies, Guidance and Counselling; Master of Computer Applications (three years); Postgraduate Diploma (one year) in Computer Applications, Mass Communication, Translation, Gerontological Studies, Herbal Medicine, Human Rights.
