"Mother Goose" is a progressive rock song off of Jethro Tull's fourth and most successful studio album, Aqualung (1971). The song is in the style of an old English folk song, and makes use of two flutes, acoustic guitar, tambourine, and hand drums. An electric guitar is introduced near the end of the song.
The lyrics of the song draw on imagery from the circus (elephants and lions, bearded lady), and nursery rhymes (mother goose, four and twenty).
