It is a screenshot taken from a My Little Pony DVD, as I noted on the image's page. Mostly Rainy 03:35, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

I like usernames like yours, their quick, catchy, simple and just down right easy to remember, like User: Splash! -- Legolost 06:50, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, I appeciate the comment :) Mostly Rainy 09:55, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bantown

I don't quite understand what you've done here. You're not an admin, so you can't delete the article. Who do you expect to actually follow up on the notice you added?

Also, why did you move it to Via Strass' userspace? I didn't see a request for it anywhere. --Sam Blanning(talk) 09:59, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

I placed a delete notice on the actual article, you can delete it. I coped the article to user subspace because User:Via strass was the user that posted the article so I moved it to her subspace in case she wanted to keep it. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Mostly Rainy 10:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not a free webhost - once an article is deleted, it should stay deleted unless it can somehow be turned to an encyclopaedic purpose. Please don't userfy articles unless someone requests it, having specified that they are going to try and improve it (or have a similarly good reason). --Sam Blanning(talk) 11:06, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Closing of AfDs with "delete" consensus

Please do not close AfD discussions with a "delete" consensus unless you are an administrator. It is better for AfD-closing admins to deal with the article directly, and if an AfD with "delete" consensus is closed by a non-admin, admins skimming the AfD log may never notice that the page hasn't been deleted. At the least, it will delay the actual deleting of the page, which will probably be not what you intend. Therefore, close only "keep" discussions yourself. Thanks, Kimchi.sg 10:20, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Nobody has complained to me about me closing "delete" AFDs. The way I do it is I close the discussion and then place an {{afdf}} tag to alert admins to delete the article. It's worked out every time. Mostly Rainy 10:49, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
If they want to save it, they had the five days of discussion to save it, so that is a moot point. Just let admins close "delete" AfD discussions, please. I appreciate your good intentions, but it's less confusing the traditional way. Kimchi.sg 11:01, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
P.S. You are welcome to persist if you don't mind admins constantly asking you why you close "delete" discussions when you've no power to delete the pages yourself. I notice I'm not the first to do so, and won't be the last. Kimchi.sg 11:04, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Since you and User:Samuel Blanning comment about this, I'll just leave closing such AFDs to admins. Mostly Rainy 11:33, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] TfD nomination of Template:Afdf

Template:Afdf has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. Kimchi.sg 11:11, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

I have withdrawn my nomination. While I realise that "the road to hell is littered with good intentions," a slight change in the workflow (i.e., non-admins closing clear, unambiguous "delete" consensus AfDs) will not harm things. Also, see comments in the TfD. Kimchi.sg 14:32, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of "List of slogans..."

Hi, I saw that you had closed the AfD for "List of slogans and chants opposing the Iraq War" -- and marked the page for deletion. Please note that the AfD also included the associated List_of_slogans_and_chants_supporting_immigration (as noted in my nom) and thus both should be deleted.

Regards, LeflymanTalk 19:10, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Actually, I just noticed that you are not actually an admin; it's more appropriate for an Admin to close AfDs, so I'm reverting your changes. --LeflymanTalk 19:15, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
    • Yea.. please don't close AFDs for deletion unless your an admin. Closing it to keep/merge/redirect is okay though. thanks Sasquatch t|c 19:58, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Angry Nintendo Nerd AfD

Hi MostlyRainy, I see that you have closed Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Angry_Nintendo_Nerd as keep. However, you should not have closed this as a non-admin. This was at best a close decision so it is not a case of an unambiguous result as described in Wikipedia:Deletion_process. Second it appears you concluded "keep" as a result of a simple count of the opinions expressed. However the "keep" comments were almost exclusively poor reasoned and lacked justification based in policy and many of them were from new users. On the other hand the Delete opinions quoted a number of Wikipedia policies that this article violates and presented a much better argument. It appears to me that the true consensus on this AfD was "delete".

I may re-open the AfD on the grounds that it was improperly closed, but I would like to hear your comments before I do. Thanks, 00:50, 22 July 2006 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gwernol (talkcontribs)

If you feel you need to reopen the AFD, go ahead. I closed because the debate closed even. Mostly Rainy 14:01, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Please read my comments above. Close debates should never be closed by non-admins. You should not be counting votes to determine the outcome of AfD debates, but instead following the instructions here, particularly the guidelines on rough consensus. In general the opinions of new users are weighed less gthan those of established users, becasue what is being debated at AfD is the policies and guidelines that apply to the article under discussion. If we applied straight voting to AfD it would be easy for vote stacking to occur which is highly undesireable. I will re-open the AfD and ask another admin to re-consider it. Thanks, Gwernol 14:12, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the rewording. Gwernol 14:21, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

Thank you so much for voting in my recent RFA. It passed on the relatively narrow vote of 38/8/8. It was also one of the least-participated-in RFA nominations in several months, so pat yourself on the back, and join the party on your left, but first, take your cookie!

[edit] my RfA

Thanks for your support in my RfA! Unfortunately, the request did not pass, with a vote of (43/16/7). But your support was appreciated and I'll just keep right on doing what I do. Maybe I'll see ya around -- I'll be here!

[edit] Thanks from Yanksox!

Hey, Rainy, thanks for supporting my RfA, which registered a tally of 104/4/7. Which means...

I am now an admin!!!

I was and still am very flattered by all the kind comments that I recieved, I will also take into account the comments about how I could improve. I guarantee I will try my best to further assist Wikipedia with the mop. Feel free to drop in and say hi or if you need anything. Again, thank you so much! Yanksox 04:05, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wickethewok's RFA

Thanks for your support on my RFA. The final vote count was (61/9/3), so I am now an administrator. Feel free to let me know how I'm doing at any point in time or if you need anything. Once again, thank you. Wickethewok 15:35, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA and your vote

Hi Jack,
Thanks for participating in my RFA! Ultimately, no consensus was reached, but I still appreciate the fact that you showed up to add in your two cents. You can feel free to talk to me about it or add some advice on my improvement page.

Sincerely, The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me)

[edit] You've got a Thank you card!

[edit] TMNT

The official name of the new Ninja Turtles movie is "TMNT", not "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". As such, I reverted your move of the movie to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2007 film) back to TMNT (2007 film). Whether or not it's explicit what TMNT stands for, that's the name of the movie. In any event, before making a massive move like that on an established page, please open a line of discussion on the talk page. Thank you. Anthony Hit me up... 16:13, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

I has a feeling someone would disagree. Oh well, I won't change it again. Mostly Rainy 02:54, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yankees and Red Sox

Well the last sweep in a 5 game series between the Sox and Yankees and 1938, and that was done by the Sox. Considering the fact that I'm actually a Sox fan, I'm demoralized right now for this season, the Yankees are just such a scary team right now. It's been a weird year. Cheers, Yanksox 11:53, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kendall_A._Smith

You may recall closing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kendall A. Smith. The result was Userfy, which I understand to mean moving the body of the article to his user space so he can work on it. However, his user page has been moved to kasmith so his old page is now an article. He has set up a redirect from his new user page to the old one (which also means users cannot leave a message on his talk page). Indeed it has the article not user page tabs. Further, a search for Kendall A. Smith also goes to this page. In effect the (vanity) article has been retained. Should not the old page be deleted? BlueValour 01:47, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
