[edit] Accuracy of Article
I have next to me as I type a programme of the Moscow State Circus from 1956. This was from a visit to the Harringay Arena which was the first occasion on which a state circus from the Soviet Union had visited Western Europe.[1]
See also the article on circuses from which the following quote is taken:
In 1919, Lenin, head of the USSR, expressed a wish for the circus to become 'the people's art-form', given facilities and status on a par with theatre, opera and ballet. The USSR nationalized the Soviet circuses. When the Moscow State Circus company began international tours in the 1950's, its levels of originality and artistic skill were widely applauded, and the high standard of the Russian State circus continues to this day.
I guess there must be two different entities. Should be pointed out in this article

- I think this article is indeed missing any history of the circus and thus it is not clear whether we are talking about an institution of many decades in operation or one which is capitalising on a brand name that has been about in previous decades.--Matilda talk 05:31, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Various bits of info which conflict with each other and with the article
There are a number of different sources which seem to provide conflicting information. I have detailed them in sub sections below --Matilda talk 06:42, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] First? Moscow State Circus
Was performing in April 1930 according to this Google Books result for Rings of Desire: circus history or perhaps on second reading it was a building where something was performed in. --Matilda talk 06:42, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
