[edit] Template:Canadian federal political parties
No, it won't. It'll look plain and boring. GreenJoe 01:24, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- WP:DEW is simply an opinion, not policy or even a guideline. GreenJoe 02:35, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- That's great. I think discussion about our template should occur on its talk page, not the one about US parties. I don't believe in a blanket solution for everything that diminishes the quality of the template. GreenJoe 03:03, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
While I may not agree with you, you're doing a good job. GreenJoe 05:18, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:AA EVX logo.gif
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AA EVX logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 05:14, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Jill Valentine Resident Evil 3.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Jill Valentine Resident Evil 3.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:38, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] NDP candidates
Umm, actually... you're the one who made the wrong page. Check out any other year, and you'll see that they're ordered by riding rather than candidate name. -- Earl Andrew - talk 22:03, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, no. They should stay there too! It's a list of candidates. ALL candidates. -- Earl Andrew - talk 23:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Canadian politician photos
Hi... What about this, which is sourced from here? And do I understand correctly from your post here that any image of a living person in Category:Official photographs of Canadian politicians should also be deleted? --Rrburke(talk) 19:15, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, and thanks for replying. It's not unfortunate to me, as I don't have any stake in keeping these images. I'm just trying to confirm I've understood the policy correctly -- thanks for clarifying. I tried to make what I think is the same point here, but, before your arrival, without success.
- I presume Image:MillikenPeter_LIB.jpg,Image:20060206 cab01.jpg,Image:AlanGotlieb.png,Image:Clark-citizen.jpg,Image:ClarksonandQueen2005.jpg and a great many besides suffer from the same problem? --Rrburke(talk) 19:38, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Logos
Hi, Morgan695. I hope I'm not imposing by asking another image question. I'm looking for confirmation that users are not entitled to license self-created versions of copyrighted logos as their own work. I presume a user cannot draw from scratch, for example, a Nike swoosh in Photoshop and then claim the image is free and that he is the copyright holder? Surely the logo itself is copyrighted, irrespective of who drew this particular instance of it?
I've seen the question raised here, but have not seen a definitive response to it. --Rrburke(talk) 15:55, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi; thanks for answering. You and Quadell confirmed what I already suspected. His explanation of the difference between trademark and copyright was enlightening -- to me, at least: you're more likely already to have been familiar with it. Yes: I've also been to the RfA. I feel a little badly, truth be told, but I felt those questions needed to be raised. --Rrburke(talk) 19:09, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

I would like to thank you for your participation in my successful RfA, which passed with a tally of (44/10/5)[1]. Whether you supported, opposed or were neutral in my RfA, I appreciate your participation and I hope that we can continue to work together to build a stronger and better Wikipedia. | |

[edit] Your comments
Your not assuming good faith with your message on my talk page. An Inconvenient Truth, if you look at the talk page, was justified. I have a duty to question some things, so we aren't blinding making changes. While I do have to explain my edits, so do other editors. Nothing should be done without a reason. I would appreciate your own ability to be civil towards me. I remove comments that violate the rules posted at the top of my talk page. GreenJoe 00:03, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template edits
I'm ready to argue with you.
- Change for the sake of change isn't a reason.
- There is no consensus to change these templates.
- WP:WAX can be more broadly applied, you're just being narrow minded. You need a good reason to make this "standardized". I just don't see it.
- I will WP:AGF. GJ (talk) 19:40, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I'm busy with the holidays. I'm sorry that I can't reply to your every message. I'm protective of the GPC template. I wish you would assume good faith yourself, from the message I see below. GJ (talk) 06:46, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- I left your edits to the political prov templates, but I still don't see the need to change the GPC template. Standardization isn't a reason. GJ (talk) 06:52, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Now that the discussion is somewhere in regards to Nat where others can discuss it, I'm not the only one who needs convincing. So it's hardly lame. GJ (talk) 06:54, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hey...
Hey Morgan, long time no talk...lol. Anyways, it seems like you and I have a similar problem with the same editor. So far, Joe just wouldn't listen to the reasoning of other editors even when he doesn't even have one, or clearly does not have a sufficient reason for maintaining the status quo on some of the templates. As you've already said, it may boil down to either mediation or arbitration. nat.utoronto 07:22, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Frances Lankin
I see you seem to be struggling a bit with how to apply the infobox to an article. You don't actually need to cut and paste the entire template code — there's a much shorter and easier way. I'll do it now, so once it's on there you can look at the edit history to see how it's actually done. Bearcat (talk) 00:26, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you cut and paste the text-entry box instead of the whole template, there's an imagesize field to resize large images with. Anyway, I'm done with the box now, so you can look at the edit history to see what I did. (And anytime you want to add the box to another politician who doesn't have it yet, by far the easiest way is to just cut and paste it from one who does, and then make the appropriate information changes.) [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Rose Lost.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Rose Lost.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 12:36, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Notability of Tom Teahen
I assumed that being nominated by a major party was sufficient to meet notability criteria, but after searching more deeply into discussions on this matter, it appears you may be correct.

[edit] VGChartz
Hi there. Unfortunately there has been several discussions at WikiProject Computer and Video Games, and it was determined that VGChartz is not a reliable source, therefore it cannot be used as a reference when claiming, as in your case, the SSBB sales. We will have to wait until a reliable one is found. Thanks for understanding. -- ReyBrujo (talk) 23:20, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The neverending saga of Belinda
The problem is that without a checkuser run we can't just assume that two different usernames are the same person. What I've done in the interim is that I've moved the hidden comment down from the top of the article so that it appears directly between "Belinda Stronach" and "PC", but other than that all we can do is keep an eye on it until such time as the same username makes the edit in question more than once. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Annie 2006 Tour Logo.jpg
