[edit] Helmert

My current project is Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geographical coordinates#OS grid refs to co-ordinatesand the Javascript Tool] I am developing; hence the interest. I was just thinking that using an Airey 1830, or Airey 1830 modified would be more familiar example than Bessel. Even so that is still rather Eurocentric and we may need a second example, even one from across the pond. Should a mention be made of the Molodensky transformation- or at least give a link?

A lot of the geodesy work on Wikipedia seems to ignore datum transforms- including many of our basic tools.

[edit] Finnish War

I just saw your post on my talkpage inviting me to look at your 1808-09 Russian-Finnish War article. Although I am grateful that you invited me to offer my perspective, I must admit that I am not an expert on that conflict. I would encourage you to look for someone who might know more about it than I do. In the meantime, I will review the article and share my tentative thoughts about it. [edit] a thank you note

Thanks for participating in my RfA!
Although it failed 43/27/0, I'm happy because the outcome has been very helpful in many meaningful ways. Your support and remarks contributed so much to this. If you followed my RfA you know what happened. Most of the editors who posted opposing opinions have never edited with me. Some articles I edit deal with controversial topics and with respect to a very few of these, editors who didn't know much about me had some worries about confrontational editing and civility. Since I support their high standards I can easily (and will gladly) address this. The support and ecouragement to run again soon has been wonderful, thanks again. Cheers! [edit] A Sock attack

A particularly vicious vandal known as Wikzilla has surfaced again in the form of socks: User:68.244.171.75 and User:68.245.43.252. See:[1] and [2]. Can you do your new admin' 'thin? FWIW Bzuk (talk) 12:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC).

Please unblock .75 and .252. I can personally assure you that they will not refer to Bzuk as Dumb Ass.68.245.223.177 (talk) 16:31, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

and other socks deployed: User:68.244.7.198 and User:68.245.223.177 and another: User: 70.4.9.235. This guy is the Energizer Bunny. Bzuk (talk) 17:58, 2 February 2008 (UTC).
it's one of his tried-and-true tactics to build up a sequence of unchallenged edits in order to establish legitimacy and then use that IP address to attack others. However, he hasn't yet resorted to the typical language but it's him alright. Bzuk (talk) 20:16, 2 February 2008 (UTC).

Thanks for the feedback, Morse. Looking forward to hearing more. User:Towpilot has pointed my attention to the landing gear, which are a clear VL Tuisku feature. Manxruler (talk) 14:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Templates for deletion

Hi, could you remove these templates?

They're some old tests by me, which are now totally useless. That Finnish Air Force template is yours, but useless now as well since military unit template is used there. Don't feel like putting up a TfD-nomination for every one..--Pudeo 18:42, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I've erased some, but decided to leave one as it is in use. --MoRsE (talk) 10:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ju-88 translation

Hi MoRsE I'm Belisarius, I'm an Italian wikipedian. I'm translating the page about Ju-88 from En.Wikipedia to It.Wikipedia but I need the translation of this sentence:

However, by the time Luftwaffe planners had had their own "pet" features added (including dive-bombing),
the Ju 88's top speed had dropped to around 450 km/h (280 mph).

You find it here (at seventeenth line). What is the "PET"? It was another aircraft? I have to write why the Ju 88's top speed had dropped, so I need to know it. You can write to me here [3] Best wishes --87.6.225.115 (talk) 14:23, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Belisarius, in this case, the writer is using a terminology ãbbrevated from "pet project", which can be translated as "A project, activity or goal pursued as a personal favorite, rather than because it is generally accepted as necessary or important." (from Wiktionary) --MoRsE (talk) 06:07, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, now I can finish the page.--87.11.227.132 (talk) 10:19, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
