Mr. Arkin is the creator of many varieties of fruit, and is widely known in tropical fruit circles as the individual responsible for making star fruit (carambolas) and macadamias commercially viable in South Florida, where these fruit are not indigenous.

I intend to supplement this article with additional information regarding his work in this area.
