Middle-earth Wikiproject This article is within the scope of WikiProject Middle-earth, which aims to build an encyclopedic guide to J. R. R. Tolkien, his legendarium, and related topics. Please visit the project talk page for suggestions and ideas on how you can improve this and other articles.
Note: Though it states in the Guide to writing better articles that generally fictional articles should be written in present tense, all Tolkien legendarium-related articles that cover in-universe material must be written in past tense. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Middle-earth/Standards for more information about this and other article standards.

I removed the text, "What became of them later is almost a mystery. It is possible that some of them may have secretly dwelt in the mountains of Ered Luin and remained there up until the beginning of the Fourth Age." There is no mystery, as the Quenta Silmarillion says (right before the quotation in the article), "But others of the Eldar there were who set out indeed upon the westward march, but became lost upon the road, or turned aside, or lingered on the shores of Middle-earth; and these were for the most part of the kindred of the Teleri, as is told hereafter. They dwelt by the sea, or wandered in the woods and mountains of the world, yet their hearts were turned towards the West." Eric119 6 July 2005 06:39 (UTC)
