Mort Metzger

Mort Metzger is a fictional Sheriff on the American TV series Murder, She Wrote from 1989 to 1996. The character was played by Ron Masak. He was a former NYPD officer who replaced Amos Tupper as Cabot Cove's sheriff, in the mistaken anticipation of living in a more peaceful place.
